LCS Summer is proving to be a great opportunity for Cloud9 to reconfirm their strength and show everyone that their LCS Spring 2023 performance wasn’t a fluke.

What’s surprising, however, is that Evil Geniuses have the exact same record at the moment: 7 W – 2 L. Meanwhile, exceptional teams from the Spring Split, such as FlyQuest, are struggling to finish in the top 8.

It seems that the new FlyQuest roster is not functioning well and other teams are taking advantage of the situation.

Cloud9’s run

Cloud9 started LCS Summer 2023 with victories against Golden Guardians, Dignitas, and TSM. Week 1 was a huge success. In the second week of the competition, C9 encountered FlyQuest, 100 Thieves, and NRG. Strangely enough, they won the first two matches, which were supposed to be harder, but lost the third.

The third week finished with a similar result: two matches won, one lost. The team that managed to beat C9 this week was Team Liquid. You might be tempted to think that Liquid’s victory against Cloud9 was normal, but it wasn’t in the context of Liquid’s numerous defeats (5 W – 4 L) and C9’s numerous victories.

The 4th week of LCS Summer 2023 starts on July 5 and Cloud9 will have some serious opposition to beat: Golden Guardians, Dignitas, and Immortals. This week is almost a repeat of the first one. But will C9 play as well as they did before?

EG’s run

Evil Geniuses started the competition with victories against NRG and Golden Guardians, followed by a defeat against Dignitas. The best-of-one format did not help them at all against Dignitas, a team they probably would have defeated in a best-of-three.

The game lasted for almost 36 minutes. EG had a gold lead of around 3000 at one point, but ended up losing after a completely failed team fight.

Week 2 was an absolute masterclass. EG won all of their three games despite facing opponents like 100 Thieves, FlyQuest, and Team Liquid. All three matches were hard-fought, lasting between 27 and 38 minutes. EG won using picks like Viego, Nocturne, and Xayah.

The third week was another success, but only two of the three matches were won by EG. They managed to beat TSM and Immortals but ended up losing against Cloud9, who seem to be the strongest team in the region at the moment.
