BLAST Premier Fall Final entered the playoffs stage yesterday and we were able to watch two excellent matches. One of them was a stomp while the other was a tough battle between a very talented team and a giant that lost its best player recently, at least for the next few months.

In the group stage, the conditions to advance were easy to fulfill. With four teams per group, it was enough to get a single victory in two best-of-three matches to finish in the top three and secure at least a quarterfinals spot. But because of the tough competition, both groups were bound to end up with a great participant getting eliminated.

In group A, Ninjas in Pyjamas got destroyed by FaZe Clan and then lost against Natus Vincere. In group B, Astralis simply couldn’t play at their usual level and lost four maps in a row. Two of them were lost in overtime. In each case, device reigned supreme but b0RUP was far from being a solid teammate whom he could rely on.

We know that changes are coming at Astralis, because we now have a roster that’s heavily carried by just two people: device and blameF. If their teammates would be at the same level, this team could be winning S-tier tournaments.

That aside, FaZe Clan won group A while Team Vitality won group B. The other four teams that qualified for the playoffs were Cloud9, Natus Vincere, Complexity, and Heroic. In the quarterfinals, Complexity had to play against Na’Vi while Cloud9 played against Heroic.

Complexity vs. Na’Vi: 2-1

B1t, iM and the rest of the squad did not play badly at all. But the problem was that EliGE and floppy had a phenomenal match. In EliGE’s case, he ended with 59 kills, while b1t had 49.

Natus Vincere won the first map, Anubis, thanks to b1t’s excellent performance. But on the other two maps, things did not work well for them.

Cloud9 vs. Heroic: 2-0

Cloud9 entered this match as the favorite. And not just because of Boombl4 and his former Na’Vi teammates, electroNic and Perfecto. It also had to do with the fact that Heroic played with an improvised roster. CadiaN hasn’t left yet, but he probably will, while jabbi and stavn left and joined Astralis.

On the first map, the score was 13-11. But on the second, it was 13-5.
