All the details of the RLCS European Winter Open 2022-23

BDS bids farewell and veterans suffer from Vertigo

Vertigo Esports, a team made up of three Rocket League players who had never participated in an RLCS regional tournament before, was the big surprise of the day. The three players made an excellent first impression in the playoffs with a convincing win against AS Monaco to qualify for the competition. However, even with this result, nothing was expected of them for the main event. In the opening group round, the promising stars surprised everyone by defeating No. 4 seed Team Liquid 3-2.

After losing to Quadrant 3-1, they bounced back with a 3-1 win over Tundra to advance to the playoffs. Unfortunately, they suffered a devastating 3-0 loss to Karmine Corp in the opening round, but it was still a good performance for the rookie trio.

Los Amigos are back, and their Vitality continues to surprise

The day’s first set of matches produced the quarterfinals’ most unexpected outcome. Team Liquid’s young team has a reputation for being inconsistent at times, and their loss to Vertigo on the first day proved that. This was again evident in their series against German Amigos, where they suffered a crushing 4-1 defeat. Due to Team Liquid’s inability to execute their typically aggressive mechanical maneuvers, German Amigos’ defensive style of play proved appropriate.

After defeating BDS on day one, Moist faced a fiery Vitality in the quarterfinals. Yanis “Alpha54” Champenois, Vitality’s captain, led his team to another outstanding performance on Friday.

Grand finale between French

There was enormous pressure on Rise and his club to succeed in this competition after his controversial departure from Moist Esports Rocket League during the transfer window. We expected as much after their outstanding performance at the G1 Invitational. They faced a Vitality team full of confidence and momentum after easily defeating Soniqs. Unfortunately, Archie’s outstanding individual effort in this series was insufficient to defeat French powerhouse, Karmine Corp.

Karmine Corp faced German Amigos in the other semi-final. After their poor performance in Rotterdam, the French team wanted to start strong in this split to show everyone they were still the best in Europe. Unfortunately, it was a convincing sweep for the French freaks, as German Amigos’ defensive style of play was not as effective as against Team Liquid.

The competition closed with an all-French final. Team Vitality was at its best after its intense series against Oxygen. However, even at their best, you can’t stop Karmine Corp. Vitality’s streak ending with a 4-1 victory for Karmine Corp, who was once again proclaimed the Kings of Europe.
