The details of the top esports competitions for the 2023 season continue to be revealed. This time, BLAST, one of the principal tournament organizers worldwide, has announced the details for the events that will be held in 2023.

In total, seven large-scale BLAST tournaments will be played in 2023, with a prize pool amounting to $2.4 million. As we mentioned in a previous article, the first event will be the BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2023, and the season will end in December with the BLAST Premier: World Finals.

BLAST Premier returns with a bang in 2023

As the official BLAST Premier blog mentions:

“BLAST Premier returns in 2023 with 345 hours of world-class Counter-Strike in its fourth year.”

While the schedule may look the same, BLAST brings some slight modifications to event organization. In addition, BLAST intends to raise the event stream to 345 hours.

The most significant changes the BLAST Premier circuit will have for 2023 will include the BO3 format in the Spring and Fall brackets. This is mainly to offer more hours of Counter-Strike to the fans.

The teams that win these groups will qualify directly for the Spring and Fall Finals. On the other hand, the remaining teams will have to compete in a new tournament called Gaunlet.

Finally, the three teams that win the Gaunlet tournament will also book their direct ticket to the spring and autumn finals, while the losers will play the different Showdown events.

BLAST Premier Showdowns 2023

The BLAST Premier Showdowns 2023 will be played exclusively online, keeping the same regional tournaments as usual, Showdown Europe and Showdown Rest of the World.

The Spring Group and Fall Group will be played at the BLAST studios in Copenhagen, Denmark, and will not be open to the public. On the other hand, the finals of these events will be played live and in public. The dates and venues of these events are not yet known.

BLAST Premier Qualifiers

In BLAST Premier 2023, there will also be BLAST Premier Qualifiers and open tournaments for all interested teams from many regions worldwide. The top teams from these qualifiers will have the opportunity to play in the BLAST Premier Showdowns and, ultimately, possibly qualify for the Spring or Fall Finals.

Many teams will have the opportunity to play on a global platform thanks to the BLAST Premier Qualifiers.

With this, teams from all over the world will have a chance to play at the highest competitive level and face the best teams in the world. But, of course, they have to perform spectacularly.

Charlotte Kenny, Managing Director of BLAST Premier, said:

“We’re excited for what the BLAST Premier 2023 season has in store in its fourth year. 2023 will be the second year running where we have all of our finals in packed-out arenas in leading locations worldwide. We’re excited to deliver another 12 months of next-level entertainment and follow up on the success of last year’s arena events in Lisbon, Copenhagen, and Abu Dhabi.”
