Bali Major playoffs stage day 2 results

The Bali Major is down to its best eight competitors. Four teams got eliminated on the second day of the playoffs stage and among them were some of the tournament’s favorites.

Sadly for Team Aster, they suffered two consecutive defeats in the playoffs and were sent home empty-handed. Only the top eight participants receive money and qualification points, which means that the Chinese squad’s efforts were in vain.

They will now need to prepare for the TI12 qualifiers and beat teams like Xtreme Gaming, Invictus Gaming, and Azure Ray. Under these conditions, there’s a high chance that Sumail “Sumail” Hassan will miss The International this year.

Day 2 results

The second day of the Bali Major’s playoffs stage started with a match between PSG.LGD and Team Spirit. The Eastern Europeans won game 1 with an old-school draft composed of heroes like Clockwerk, Darkseer, and Ember Spirit.

But in games 2 and 3, PSG.LGD hit back with heroes like Huskar, Timbersaw, and Dragon Knight. All three games lasted between 40 and 45 minutes, which means they were quite disputed. In the end, PSG.LGD secured the 300 points they needed to guarantee themselves a TI12 spot.

Azure Ray defeated BetBoom Team in a match in which the Eastern European squad had to play demoralized and with a stand-in.

After Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko’s actions caused BetBoom to receive a default loss against Tundra Esports, he was no longer allowed to compete and Roman “Resolut1on” Fomynok took his place. But he was not able to help BetBoom win. The score of the match was 2-1.

In the American battle between beastcoast and Shopify Rebellion, Artour “Arteezy” Babaev’s team was sent home once again by a South American opponent. The score was 2-1 and this failure will probably demoralize Shopify quite a bit.

However, the stakes were not that high for them. They’re already qualified for TI12 and they will also compete at the upcoming Riyadh Masters. Those two tournaments offer far greater prizes than the Bali Major.

Team Aster needed to win against 9Pandas to avoid the regional qualifiers for The International 12. But they weren’t able to do it. They won game 1 with a super draft. But then failed to do the same thing in the next two games. 9Pandas were so confident in their strategy that they picked Storm Spirit in all three games.
