After what has been observed in recent months regarding the performance of Astralis, one of the most successful teams in the history of CS:GO esports, it was to be expected that they would have bad results. However, there is no doubt that it hurts not to see Astralis, for the second time in a row, not attending a CS:GO Major.

All teams have ups and downs throughout the seasons; there is no doubt about that. However, Astralis’ bad moment lasted longer than anyone could have imagined. The Danish team was eliminated from the RMR Europe B after losing to NiP and is without a ticket to the last Major in the CS:GO era.

Astralis misses out on a Major for the second time in a row

The team that has won the most titles in Valve-sponsored tournaments (Major) will not participate in the BLAST.tv Paris Major, the last one before the launch of Counter-Strike 2.

With this elimination, Astralis continues to prove that they are not ready, nor are they at their best, to compete in top-level tournaments. Furthermore, the fact is not that they were eliminated from the RMRs, as any team can have a bad tournament, but that they only won one game in the qualifiers. So now, the Astralis that dominated the scene for two consecutive years between 2018 and 2019 are left without playing their second consecutive Major.

Astralis fights to the end

Undoubtedly, after Astralis lost to Team Vitality and Eternal Fire, we all knew that it would be an extremely tough road that Astralis would have to overcome if they wanted to qualify for the Major. However, as it has always been said, hope is the last thing you lose.

On the other hand, in tournaments like this one, the star shield, the experience, and the level of the players they have, especially Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz, weigh heavily. However, despite all this that could influence the other teams, Counter-Strike always wins the team with the best performance and, of course, the most deserving, and Astralis has not been the main candidate for it.

Astralis could stay alive after beating Team Spirit with a score of 2-1. But they could do nothing against NiP, who have shown absolute improvement in the elimination match and took the victory 2-0.

The return of dev1ce to the Astralis lineup didn’t do much good, although he came in at his best, one of the best players in CS:GO history.

Dev1ce devastated by the elimination

As we mentioned, Astralis missed their second consecutive Major with this elimination, as they did not participate in the IEM Rio Major 2022. However, what hurts the most for the organization and the fans is that it will be the last Major in the CS:GO era, especially in 2023, as the next event will be in March 2024 with the Major in Denmark.

The image that describes the feeling that Astralis and its fans are feeling right now is undoubtedly shown by dev1ce itself.

After losing to NiP in the elimination match, the Danish CS:GO legend was a complete wreck in his chair. While it is true that the player performed well throughout the RMR, his return to the competitive Counter-Strike scene has not gone as the player dreamed it would. Undoubtedly, this may be the most difficult and saddest moment dev1ce has experienced in his long and successful career in the scene.

From now on, Astralis will have to prepare as best as possible to leave their organization’s name high in the rest of the 2023 tournaments and, above all, for the first big event in 2024.
