¿Trouble continues for the Dota 2 competitive scene in the China region. Many teams have been accused of cheating and others of match-fixing. Some of the most popular teams have been in the community’s spotlight. Some were for the wrong reasons, while others were unconfirmed.

Now, we have one of these big teams, Team Aster, which has joined this great madness that is living Dota 2 in China at the beginning of 2023.

Aster has not paid the prize money to some players

A few hours ago, players Zhang “LaNm” Zhicheng and Zeng “Ori” Jiaoyang expressed on Weibo (a platform similar to Facebook and Twitter in China) about Team Aster’s payment delays. The players highlight that the organization has fallen behind in salaries and tournament prize money payments.

Shortly after these statements, another veteran Chinese player, Pan “Fade” Yi, joined the conversation and stated that Team Aster owed him some payments since 2020.

It is worth remembering that both LaNm and Ori left the Chinese Team Aster organization in November 2022, shortly before the start of the Dota Pro Circuit 2023.

About Team Aster

Since 2020, Team Aster has been at the top of the professional Dota 2 scene in the China region. This organization has achieved outstanding results in high positions in The International 2021 and 2022. At TI 2021, they won $600,000 in prize money; in 2022, they took home $1,135,835.

These are huge amounts of money that, in part, correspond in a portion to the players on the team. However, even though Team Aster has performed spectacularly in every LAN tournament it has played, the players’ claims suggest that the organization has not made the corresponding payments to the team members.

This is not the first time this has happened in recent months

Recall that at the end of 2022, the South American team, SG Esports, did not receive their share of winnings in prize money after the DPC Tour 3. In addition, the players still have not received their share of the payment after more than six months.

These kinds of problems are extremely rare to happen nowadays. Unfortunately, however, another esports is not far from this reality either. For example, let’s remember that some North American VALORANT players complained to the tournament organizer Nerd Street Gamers that they still haven’t received their payments for more than four months.

Team Aster has not commented on these statements. So we hope this situation will be clarified, and each player will be paid accordingly.
