The Lima Major is by far the most important Dota 2 event of the first half of Dota Pro Circuit 2023. This tournament brings together 18 teams from the six official regions and offers them the opportunity to win not only money but also qualification points for The International 12.

What makes this tournament special and also unusual is the presence of many little-known teams that need to prove themselves. Some of them entered Dota 2 by purchasing an established roster, while others have only recently started to experience success at the highest level.

Lima Major location and dates

Lima Major takes place in South America (Peru), between February 22 and March 5. For nearly two weeks, the Dota 2 community will have the opportunity to experience the highest level of Dota in the world.

However, because of the location, the first match of each day will take place in the afternoon if you’re from Europe and in the evening if you’re from Asia.

Among the talent, viewers will be entertained and educated by people like Jorien “Sheever” van der Heijden (host), Mira Riad (commentator/analyst), Kevin “Purge” Godec, Ioannis “Fogged” Loucas (commentator/analyst), and Shannon “SUNSfan” Scotten.

The group stage of Lima Major ends on February 26. This means that most of the tournament will consist of playoffs matches, which are best-of-three series.

In group B, BetBoom Team, beastcoast, Liquid, and Shopify Rebellion are the big favorites. However, Aster and HellRaisers are not that far behind and could pose serious challenges to any of them.

Overall, Spirit, Tundra, Liquid, beastcoast, and BetBoom are the biggest favorites. If everything goes according to what the statistics indicate, either Liquid or BetBoom will win the trophy.

Missing giants

Unfortunately for Dota 2 fans, OG, Fnatic, Team Secret, and Nigma Galaxy will not take part in the tournament. Despite having great players, these teams failed to qualify, and in some cases even relegated to Division II of their respective regions.
