The Philippines is a step closer to determining which of its pro Mobile Legends: Bang Bang franchises will represent the Pearl of the Orient in the upcoming 2024 Mid-Season Cup in Saudi Arabia.

This is after half of the eight franchised teams in MPL Philippines were able to secure their playoff slots in Day 2 of Week 5 of MPL-PH Season 13.

First off, despite their loss against RSG the day prior, ONIC Philippines booked their ticket to the playoffs by beating Smart Omega, 2-0.

Jomarie “Escalera” Santos was the driving force behind the Sonics’ playoffs berth, as his Arlott pick led to a 12-5 trouncing of Smart Omega, with a 2-1-9 k/d/a in Game 1.

Duane “Kelra” Pillas led all players in the game with 6 kills, and Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez’s Pharsa pick was flawless in his 3-0-5 k/d/a.

By Game 2, Barangay Omega led a strong comeback in the early game, thanks to Andrew “Andoryuuu” Flora’s Baxia pick that helped secure all three turtles.

However, ONIC bounced back quickly to extend the fight to a 24-minute skirmish where Omega tried a late game push and failed due to a burst down by King Cyric “K1NGKONG” Perez’s Nolan against Jayson “UKIR” Alupit’s Vexana pick.

ONIC PH and Smart Omega will be taking the Sunday off before resetting for Week 6.

Blacklist International added three critical points to keep their playoff dreams alive after winning against Minana EVOS, 2-0.

Meanwhile, as a result of yesterday’s matches, and since both teams have had 6-3 win-loss records as a result of the gauntlet format, ECHO and RSG Philippines have also secured their own playoff spots.

There will now only be two remaining playoff spots for contention among Blacklist International, Minana EVOS, Smart Omega and TNC Pro Team as a result, with two teams being eliminated from competition at the end of the double-round-robin regular season.
