Undoubtedly, the Apex Legends NA scene is completely dominating the ALGS. A few days ago, DarkZero was crowned champion of the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs, and, in addition, we have 11 teams from the region sealed their tickets to the upcoming Championship 2023. However, we have a team that continues to demonstrate some shortcomings that prevent them from competing at the highest level, FURIA Esports.

After the recent announcement of Jacob “HisWattson” McMillin’s retirement as a professional, FURIA Esports was left without one of its pillars for the ALGS LCQ 2023. However, in the last few hours, the organization announced the signing of Mac “Albralelie” Beckwith, who arrived at the organization to fight in the aforementioned tournament and, according to FURIA’s report, to continue in the team for as long as possible.

FURIA announce Albralelie’s signing

Through an official statement on its Twitter account, FURIA Esports announced the signing of Albralelie to complete its Apex Legends lineup for the ALGS LCQ 2023. In addition, this becomes the third team this season for Albralelie, as he previously played under the LANimals banner and as Stand-in on Wildcard Gaming.

However, it is worth mentioning that Albralelie also played for big organizations like TSM, Team Liquid, Cloud9, and FaZe Clan, so he knows perfectly what it is like to represent a big name in the esports scene.

As we mentioned, this move comes a few days after HisWattson announced his impending retirement from the competitive Apex scene after the team was eliminated in the ALGS Split 2 playoffs. As a result, the gaming legend is now part of the FURIA content creation team, but he broke the news before the tournament ended to give the team time to look for a new player.

FURIA surprised with HisWattson

Undoubtedly, FURIA Esports was considered a force in the Apex Legends NA competitive scene, with HisWattson as their game leader. In the 2022 season, FURIA demonstrated excellent play in the LCQ NA and even took second place in the ALGS Championship 2022.

However, FURIA underperformed in the first six months of 2023, so they did not qualify for the ALGS Split 1 playoffs. Meanwhile, in Split 2, they finished #37, so these disappointing results helped HisWattson decide to retire.

About Albralelie

On the other hand, Albralelie has not had a dream 2023 either, as he has not been able to get the expected results playing under any team. It is even worth noting that Albralelie’s last good result in the competitive scene was with Cloud9 in February 2022, when they won the Knights Arena Carnage Cup #3.

In 2023, Albralelie played for LANimals in different tournaments and was unsuccessful. He then joined Wildcard Gaming for almost a month as Stand-in for the SteelSeries Invitational: North America #2. However, the team finished 10th in the standings.

Now, Albralelie will have a new challenge in the top tier of Apex Legends and, together with Scott “Pandxrz” Maynard and Nelson “Xeratricky” Medina, they hope to lead FURIA Esports to qualify for the ALGS Championship 2023.

The LCQ NA for the ALGS Championship 2023 will be played between July 21-23, where the top two teams out of the 40 participants will earn their qualification for the final tournament of the 2023 ALGS season.
