Abaddon used to be a support hero that sometimes got picked as position 3. But now he is a veritable carry that can destroy entire enemy teams with minimal support from his allies.

In this guide, I will explain why Abaddon is so powerful right now and how you can take advantage of his skills to gain MMR in Dota 2 patch 7.35b.

What makes Abaddon strong in Dota 2 patch 7.35b

Abaddon currently has a win rate of 56% and a pick rate of 13.2%, being the most successful hero in Dota 2 at the community level. His win rate is almost one point higher than the win rate of any other hero. But how is this possible?…

Abaddon received massive buffs in Dota 2 patch 7.35 and then got slightly nerfed in 7.35b. But the buffs were huge while the nerfs were relatively insignificant.

When you play Abaddon, you naturally have 192 HP regen and 72 mana regen per minute. These things alone can greatly impact your laning phase. Because if you buy just a few more items, your HP regen will climb up to 6 or 7. Next to your tower, you should easily reach 7 HP regen per second, which gives you 420 HP per minute.

Unless you’re playing against highly aggressive opponents who can hit you from afar, you shouldn’t have any problems in the first 5-10 minutes of the game.

One thing that you can use when playing Abaddon is Aphotic Shield, which gives you a barrier that absorbs 120 – 210 damage. If you have enough mana, you can cast it every 12 – 6s if needed. This powerful buff also applies a strong dispel, which means that it can remove all kinds of debuffs.

By far, the most powerful ability of Abaddon is Curse of Avernus. If you hit an enemy 4 times, which shouldn’t take more than 3 seconds after you gain a few levels and buy some basic items, the target you focused on becomes incredibly slowed (15 – 60% and starts to take 20 – 50 damage per second for 4 seconds.

In addition to this, you gain 60 – 120 attack speed, which is a huge bonus. This ability makes it very challenging for enemies to fight you 1v1, especially when your ultimate is available.

Abaddon’s Borrowed Time gives him 4 – 6s of immortality. During this time, he regenerates his HP whenever he receives damage. You should also use your Q, Mist Coil, whenever you cast your ultimate, to gain a lot more HP than usual (650 instead of 325).

When playing Abaddon, build movement speed, attack speed, and stats. A Blink Dagger is also an excellent choice.
