Following the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) launch by Epic Games in Fortnite, Activision Blizzard has taken a dim view that the first maps created are recreations of CoD maps. Because of this, Activision would have asked Epic Games to remove all copyrighted maps.
Undoubtedly, this new tool launched by Epic Games makes the most creative fans bring out all their talent in creating maps. However, some have been “inspired” by maps from other titles, such as Call of Duty, to recreate them in the Fortnite environment.
Activision Blizzard would have asked Epic to remove certain maps
After launching the UEFN and seeing its success in the community, Epic Games updated the terms and conditions for all those creators who wanted to create their own Fortnite maps.
The popular content creator Jake Lucky said last April 3, 2023, on his Twitter account that Activision would have asked Epic to delete some maps created by the community due to copyright issues.
Activision has begun taking down Fortnite Creative 2.0 maps for Copyright Infringement. Meaning Call of Duty inspired maps like FPS Rust, Zombies, and more will no longer be playable as creators are contacted to remove them :/ pic.twitter.com/VUENqq3Fs2

As is logical, many of the first maps created with the Unreal Editor for Fortnite were inspired by many maps from different titles, in this case, Call of Duty. Because of this, many creators, including Jake Lucky, confirmed that Epic had asked them to remove everything related to the maps with copyrights.
This was made by @MistJawaYT who has since removed all of his CoD inspired creations and maps

On the other hand, Mist Jawa, who was the creator of several of these maps, such as FPS Rust and Zombies, announced in a Tweet that he will not create any more copyrighted maps. He also notes that he deleted all messages, videos, and images related to it. However, he also said he would continue to create maps for all those fans of shooters and Zombies.
I will no longer be recreating any copyright maps
Modern Fortfare along with some zombie maps
have been deleted and can no longer be played
I still plan on creating unique experainces for shooter
& Zombie fansi have also removed all tweets and YT Videos related to the topic. pic.twitter.com/TGVoHnulSu

Great initiative by Epic with the UEFN
Undoubtedly, this initiative is exceptional, as it will allow both map creators and the studios and developers themselves to profit from it. In addition, there is no doubt that, over time, all this will evolve to different titles, not only in the BR and shooters genre. But on the other hand, this could also work for game publishers and developers to recruit new talent for their editing or development teams.
In addition, to incentivize map creators, be they newbies or other studios, Epic promised to share 40% of the revenue from the in-game item store. But, it should be noted that all this will be among all island or game publishers; in addition, three fundamental factors will be taken into account for this:
- Island popularity
- Community participation
- The attraction of new players
