Astralis and Vitality Advance At ESL Pro League S19

In the last two quarterfinals of ESL Pro League S19, Astralis had to play against Team Liquid while Team Vitality had to play against FaZe Clan. Both matches were highly anticipated but the expectation was that they would offer a great spectacle.

In the end, there wasn’t much to see because Astralis easily defeated Liquid while Vitaliy had no problems against FaZe.

One thing that was strange to watch in this match was Liquid’s inability to hold on to a substantial lead. Despite the mistakes they committed in the first half of each map, they still managed to win it with a score of 5 – 7. But in the second map, they lost 8 – 2 on Inferno and 8 – 0 on Overpass.

Something clearly went terribly wrong for cadiaN’s crew and they will need to rethink their entire approach to how they play the second part of each map because what happened here was not an exception. In other matches played at ESL Pro League S19, Liquid did the same thing. They had a great performance in the first half and then struggled in the second half.

We don’t know what is happening to YEKINDAR but he went from being an exceptional rifler to struggling to keep up with the rest of the team. His performance in this match was abysmal: 14 – 32. CadiaN was the best fragger, ending with a score of 30 – 31.

Meanwhile, dev1ce was the best player on the server. His score, 39 – 24, could easily trick you into believing that he is not the team’s IGL.

Unfortunately for Astralis, they will need to beat Vitality next if they want to qualify for the Grand Final, and that will be very hard to do.

The Copenhagen Major Grand Finalists, FaZe Clan, were single-handedly defeated by ZywOo in this match. The French superstar finished with a record of 54 – 21 and a rating 2.0 of 2.21. On the first map, Nuke, he had 24 kills, 6 deaths, and a rating 2.0 of 2.42. His ADR was 155.1. These stats could make anyone forget about donk and s1mple.

The map scores were 13 – 3 (Nuke) and 13 – 10 (Vertigo). What’s remarkable about Vertigo is that FaZe won the first half 4 – 8, even though this was Vitality’s map pick. But in the second half, they just could survive the Terrorist’s assaults and maneuvers.
