The moves continue on the VALORANT Champions Tour competitive scene as teams try to arm themselves to the teeth this offseason to prepare for the upcoming VCT 2024. One of these teams is Sentinels, the North American squad that had a disappointing 2023, but they are fully confident in their lineup heading into next season.

However, the organization is not sitting on its hands, as they announced the return of Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro as the team’s backup. This move marks the second and, for many, the last that Sentinels will make this offseason, as the organization stated that the rest of the players remain with the team.

Sentinels announce the return of Zellsis

Through a post on their official Twitter account, Sentinels announced the return of Zellsis to their VALORANT squad heading into the upcoming VCT 2024. However, it is worth noting that the 25-year-old American will be on the team’s bench.

There is no doubt that the experience Zellsis can bring to the team, even though he will be on the bench, will be critical to Sentinels’ performance in the upcoming season.

Zellsis is a flexible player with a wide catalog in his repertoire regarding the agents he can use. In addition, thanks to his experience in the competitive esports scene, the American is familiar with many roles within a team, so there is no doubt that he is a luxury substitute that the Sentinels have just signed. On the other hand, his flexibility makes him a perfect substitute for any starting players.

Zellsis and his Sentinels past

There is no doubt that Zellsis’ past in the organization was brief, as he spent no more than two months with the team in 2022. However, he had memorable performances, as he formed the team’s lineup with superstars like Michael “dapr” Gulino, Tyson “TenZ” Ngo, and Shahzeb “ShahZaM” Khan to compete in the LCQ. However, the team fell short of the VCT Champions, losing to The Guard and 100 Thieves.

Zellsis was then unexpectedly released from Sentinels and immediately joined Version1, where he only stayed for a few weeks before signing with Cloud9 to play the inaugural season of the VCT Americas League.

Similarly, this Cloud9 “super team” lasted absolutely nothing, considering that it was one of the best teams in the world in the VALORANT competitive scene in 2022.

Everything seems to indicate that Sentinels closes its squad for VCT 2024, and it is expected to be as follows:

  • TenZ
  • Zachary “zekken” Patrone
  • Gustavo “Sacy” Rossi
  • Bryan “pANcada” Luna
  • Mouhamed “johnqt” Ouarid
  • Zellsis – Stand-in

In addition, it is also worth mentioning that, for the next season, it is very likely that teams will stop using a substitute player since Riot Games stopped requiring it from teams. Also, organizations want to lower their budget regarding player salaries.
