The first day of VCT Pacific week 7 has concluded with Southeast Asian teams establishing dominance over their counterparts.

In the latest round of VCT Pacific week 7 matches, Talon Esports triumphed over their tough rivals Gen.G, marking their second win of the tournament. Despite this, Talon still faces an uphill battle to make it to the playoffs. Meanwhile, Paper Rex continues to maintain their dominance at the top of the league table with five wins. Lets take a first-day recap for VCT Pacific week 7 matches.

Gen.G vs Talon Esports

Gen.G suffered another defeat, this time against Talon Esports. After a previous loss to Global Esports, it seems Gen.G’s momentum has been affected. Despite expectations for Gen.G to win, Talon Esports came out dominant. However, Gen.G still has time to regroup and bounce back. With determination and effort, they can regain their momentum and prove themselves in future matches.

Fracture

The first map of the match was Fracture, which was Gen.G’s choice. Gen.G started on the attacking side and held off Talon’s attempts to breach their defense for the first six rounds. However, Talon managed to win four consecutive rounds and finished the first half with a two-round lead. In the second half, Talon carried their momentum forward, while Gen.G struggled to catch up. Despite winning some close rounds, Gen.G only secured three rounds in the second half, ultimately resulting in a 13-8 victory for Talon on their opponent’s map pick, making a strong statement. The amazing Cypher play from Jittana “JitBoyS” Nokngam for Talon helped him to secure the MVP title with 20 frags and 233 ACS.

Lotus

Gen.G had a strong start, winning the pistol round and the subsequent round. However, Talon quickly counterattacked, winning five rounds in a row. After a few more back-and-forth rounds, the first half ended with a score of 8-4 in favor of Talon, indicating a dominant performance. In the second half, Gen.G failed to make any significant impact, winning only two rounds. Ultimately, Talon closed out the match on the Lotus map with a better score of 13-7 compared to the first map, showcasing their superior gameplay. This time Itthirit “foxz” Ngamsaard for Talon dropped 20 kills on Sova.

ZETA Division vs Paper Rex

The final match on the first day of week 7 featured a showdown between the Japanese team ZETA and the Southeast Asian powerhouse Paper Rex. While ZETA couldn’t be completely ignored due to their unpredictable nature, Paper Rex was undoubtedly the favorite to win. However, ZETA was unable to pull off an upset as Paper Rex secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over their opponents.

Split

On the first map of the series between Paper Rex and ZETA, Paper Rex began as attackers on their own map and took a dominating start, despite it being a defender-sided map. They finished the first half with eight rounds in their favor, leaving ZETA with no room to mount a comeback. In the second half, ZETA continued to struggle, securing only one round. Paper Rex ultimately finished the map with a 13-6 score, with fan favorite Jason “f0rsakeN” Susanto earning the MVP title for his impressive performance on Skye, with 24 kills and 307 ACS. With this win, PRX mounted a 1-0 lead in the best of three series.

Ascent

Zeta’s map pick for the second game was Ascent, which was considered a smart choice as Paper Rex had been struggling on this map since its early days. However, Paper Rex came out strong in the first half and managed to dominate Zeta, with a score of 8-4. But Zeta showed great resilience in the second half and fought back fiercely, resulting in many close rounds and back-and-forth wins. Ultimately, Paper Rex managed to secure the map with a score of 13-10. Ilya “something” Petrov was crowned MVP with an impressive performance of 22 kills at a 1.38 K/D ratio. It was another decisive victory for Paper Rex, while Zeta’s efforts to make a comeback on their chosen map fell short.

The second day of VCT Pacific week 7 will commence tomorrow when Global Esports will be up against Rex Regum Qeon.
