The 2023 season of the League of Legends competitive scene is getting closer and closer to its end, and according to different rumors in the last few hours, an NA organization would be very close to selling its spot in the LCS. We are talking about Immortals, a team that has not had a good season and that, according to different reports, would be very close to reaching the end of its stage within the LCS.

It is no secret that the current state of the LCS is worrying, as many organizations are reconsidering their future in the league. First of all, there is the fact that TSM decides to leave the NA region; then, we have several organizations put on hold their academy programs directly affecting the NACL. On top of that, we have that the financial problems in esports, in general, are directly affecting LoL teams in the NA region.

dGon claims that Immortals is close to selling its place in LCS

According to Daniel “dGon” Gonzales on Christian “IWDominate” Rivera and Nick “LS” De Cesare’s Facecheck podcast, Immortals is reportedly very close to selling its spot in the LCS. In addition, it is also stated that this information is from two very reliable sources and that it is “a matter of time” before it happens.

In the podcast, they also discussed the possible fate of TSM now that they have officially left the LCS, and, according to the three content creators, it seems that the North American organization will land in the LPL, i.e., China.

Now, getting back to the topic at hand, we have LS mentioning that this news does not surprise him since he expected Immortals to leave the LCS at the end of the season. Also, it is worth noting that since the organization joined the league in 2020, they have finished as two of the worst teams in 5 of the last 8 splits played.

Riot can take Immortals out of the LCS

While it is true that everything seems to indicate that the organization decided to sell its place in the LCS, Riot Games also has the power to take them out of the league. Following a regulation established in 2018, the game developers can revoke the right to compete in the LCS to those teams that finish in the last two places for 8 splits.

On top of all that, the organization has been exiting its lineup members, as, in the last few hours, they announced the departure of Shane “Kenvi” Espinoza and three coaches from the team.

In parallel to the competitive phase, it is also worth noting that Immortals is also the worst team in terms of fan base. If we talk about followers on social networks, this organization is the one that has the least fans in the entire LCS, and most of their videos on YouTube do not reach 500 views.

Likewise, it is worth noting that dGon never mentioned the name Immortals in the podcast, but according to the whole description, it is more than clear that he was referring to this organization.
