The BLAST Premier Spring Showdown in the European and American regions has ended, and Imperial Esports and Cloud9 have sealed their direct tickets to the Spring Final.

With the victory in the regional grand final of Imperial Esports (paiN Gaming) and Cloud9 (BIG), we now have the eight teams that will play at the Entertainment & Sports Arena, Washington DC, from June 7 to 11, 2023:

  • Team Vitality
  • FaZe Clan
  • G2 Esports
  • Heroic
  • Astralis
  • NaVi
  • Cloud9
  • Imperial Esports

Cloud9 gets the last European spot for the Spring Final 2023

Cloud9 proved in this short tournament to qualify for the Spring Final 2023 that their run in the recent ESL Pro League S17, where they finished in second place, has not been a coincidence. The team from the CIS region managed to leave Copenhagen Flames, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and beat BIG in the Grand Final to seal their ticket.

Now, Cloud9 seems to be one of the strongest teams coming to this Spring Final, but we have to consider that, without a doubt, we will have the best of the best in this tournament.

In the Grand Final against BIG, Cloud9 applied a reverse sweep to the German team. The guys from BIG, who are not going through a good moment at this stage of the season, managed to surprise C9 in the first map (Inferno) with a score of 16-14.

However, Cloud9 hit back in Vertigo (16-11), where BIG also showed determination to win, as they started with a victory on the CT side with a score of 9-6. Finally, at the change of sides, everything fell apart for the Germans, and they could not penetrate a solid defense set up by C9.

In the decisive map, Mirage, Cloud9 was able to end all the illusions of the German team in the first half, as they took a crushing partial victory 13-2 on the T side. Unfortunately, this result was impossible for BIG to overcome, and they lost 3-16.

Imperial Esports brings out their experience and crushes paiN Gaming

A Brazilian duel was what we witnessed in the grand final of the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown, where Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo and his Imperial Esports managed to crush paiN Gaming 2-0 to get their pass to the Spring Final.

Both maps were balanced, as Imperial and paiN know each other perfectly. However, the FalleN team managed to take advantage of this to win.

The series starts in Inferno, and both teams put their cards on the table to finish with a close score of 8-7, in favor of Imperial, in the first half. We had a very balanced game at the change of sides, so much so that paiN managed to get 14-15. However, Imperial managed to win the last round to take the first victory.

In Mirage, the second map, everything started the same way as in Inferno, but this time the partial victory (8-7) went to paiN. However, Imperial, with spectacular moves designed by FalleN, managed to get around paiN’s defense very easily to take the victory 16-9.
