Week 7 of the VCT EMEA League is underway, and we have Fnatic still undefeated after getting their eighth win of the tournament, while NaVi takes a blow on the table and wants to fight for the top of the standings.

Weeks go by, and it seems that no opponent can face Fnatic in the VCT EMEA League. On the other hand, the champions of LOCK//IN Sao Paulo 2023 have shown a great level of play, and, no doubt, we are all waiting for their clash against NaVi in the eighth week of the tournament.

For now, Fnatic and NaVi are the only ones qualified for the VCT EMEA playoffs, so that everything will be defined in the last week of the tournament. Undoubtedly, this indicates that we will have really exciting and intense matches in Week 8.

Let’s look at what happened on the second day of Week 7 of the tournament.

NaVi crush FÜT Esports 2-0

What was shaping into an exciting match between NaVi and FÜT Esports did not disappoint. Although the Ukrainians managed a comfortable 2-0 win, the match play was explosive.

The series was played at Lotus (FÜT) and Pearl (NaVi).

Lotus

It all started at FÜT Esports’ map pick, Lotus, where we could once again observe a great level of NaVi on their defensive side. Andrey “Shao” Kiprsky (184 ADR, 276 ACS, and 1.56 Rating) and Pontus “Zyppan” Eek (228 ADR, 347 ACS, and 1.54 Rating), managed to lead NaVi to a 9-3 partial victory in the first half.

However, FÜT did not sit back in the second half and managed to make the score 12-9 to put some pressure on the NaVi boys. Ultimately, NaVi won the remaining round to take the map victory by 13-9.

Pearl

NaVi’s map pick, Pearl, was a non-stop fight that certainly left a lot of intensity and emotions. However, NaVi started strong again on their defensive side and won the first half with a 9-3. This time, Mehmet “cNed” İpek and Dmitry “SUYGETSU” Ilyushin prevented each of FÜT’s advances.

However, the 9-3 curse was very close to being fulfilled in this match, as in the second half, FÜT Esports, by the hand of Konur “qw1” Şahin, managed to wake up and put the score 11-11. However, NaVi was able to win the last two rounds on their attacking side to avoid Overtime and take the win by 13-11.

Fnatic earn the eighth win of the tournament by crushing KCorp

Fnatic is no coincidence or fairy tale. The British team has been in great form since the start of the 2023 season, and they are confirming it in this VCT EMEA League by getting their eighth win and remaining the only undefeated team in the tournament. Karmine Corp fell for the sixth time in the tournament and no longer had a chance to qualify for the playoffs.

The series was played at Haven (Fnatic) and Lotus (KCorp).

Haven

The series started with a thrashing of Fnatic in their map pick, Haven, with Emir “Alfajer” Beder showing an impressive level. However, the first half was a real walkover for the British team, which took a comfortable 10-2 victory. Then, in the change of sides, KCorp failed to raise their heads and was crushed with a score of 2-13.

Lotus

In Lotus, things changed radically, as Fnatic let their guard down a bit, and KCorp took advantage of this to put some pressure on their map pick. However, veteran Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom was unwilling to give up on his team’s qualification to the playoffs and managed to trouble Fnatic with an awesome game.

The first half was a really exciting back-and-forth that ended with the score tied 6-6. Then, at the change of sides, KCorp started strongly, winning three of the first four rounds. After that, however, Fnatic, led by Timofey “Chronicle” Khromov, won six of the final seven rounds to take the 13-10 victory.
