So far, CCT Online Finals #5 featured a lot of exciting matches and several upsets. The biggest teams are still in the tournament, but some of the potential dark horses, such as Legacy and Fluxo, have been eliminated.

Legacy is coldzera’s team, while Fluxo is another Brazilian squad that has a lot of potential. However, as I mentioned before, the favorites played well in their first two upper bracket matches. G2 Esports and BIG need to win just one more match to reach the upper bracket Final, where they will face each other for a spot in the Grand Final.

Upper bracket semifinals preview

The two upper bracket semifinals are G2 vs. Aurora, and BIG vs. BIG vs. 9Pandas.

In the first match, G2 have a huge advantage. Nexa is quickly learning the team’s system and will likely play better and better as time goes on. He’s already demonstrated that he can be as impactful as m0NESY in one of G2’s previous matches. Against Sprout, his individual record was 43 – 54 / 0.94. M0NESY’s was 44 – 50 / 0.95.

Aurora Gaming are currently ranked 25th and lack a strong IGL. They have a lot of fancy players, but at this level, experience tends to be more important than individual skill. Not to mention the fact that G2’s individuals are among the best of their generation. Few can compete with NiKo and m0NESY in a 1v1.

Given that this will be a best-of-three, G2’s chances of winning are probably above 80%.

In the other semifinal, BIG will encounter 9Pandas, who proved to be a very capable team against Into The Breach. The Russian squad is made up of players like seized, who used to be the teammate of s1mple. The rest of the crew is not as experienced, but together they make a great team. BIG may encounter difficulties in this match.

At the moment, 9Pandas are ranked 21st, while BIG are ranked 17th. On paper, the difference is not that significant. But when you take into account the fact that BIG have players like tabseN and mantuu, it’s hard not to regard them as the favorites. The match will probably end up going the distance, but in the end, BIG should win.
