A unique mix of shooting and laser tag will be among the highlight in the mixed CS2/Laser Tag tournament at the Phygital Games of the Future in Russia.
Counter-Strike 2 athletes in the said tournament will be playing in a unique format highlighting the tournament’s “phygital” theme.
First off, a traditional CS2 match will be played among contestants, wherein it will follow the +2 overtime format. Then, it will transcend to the Digital Flame Setting mode of laser tag, which will comprise 11 rounds of 3 minutes each.
The playoffs will be much heavier wherein the tiebreaker will be a laser tag battle should the tie come in a CS2 match.
Donstu Esports, Looking for 0rg, and HOTU from Russia will represent the host nation, while XGod and Ramboot R10 will represent Spain and Kazakhstan, respectively. Rare Atom, meanwhile is the sole Chinese representative, while two more teams are yet to be announced.
Organizers are expected to make more updates to the game rules before tournament day, which is scheduled for February 23-28 at the Kazan Tennis Academy.
The tournament will feature a US$500,000 prize pool, with the champion taking home US$175,000.
