With an eye on the transition to Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), one of the most popular organizations in the CS:GO scene, Astralis, will sign Victor “Staehr” Staehr for the 2024 season.

This is a great move by Astralis, as they are betting on a player who is gaining a lot of experience playing at the highest competitive level right now with Sprout. In addition, this would also be a big jump for the Danish rifler, who, at only 18 years old, would be part of one of the most important organizations in the history of Counter-Strike.

Reports indicate that Staehr will join Astralis for the 2024 season

Staehr would be all set to join Astralis for the 2024 season when his contract with Sprout has expired. These reports are revealed by HLTV, which claims that both organizations have been in contact for several months to make the transfer. However, the money for the buyout has not yet been agreed upon.

Reports highlight that if no deal is reached in the coming months, Staehr will arrive at Astralis in late 2023 or early 2024, when his contract with Sprout ends. As a result, the 18-year-old Danish rifler would join Astralis in what would be the first season in the new Counter-Strike 2 era.

Astralis has been after the young player’s footsteps since the 2022 season and, according to different reports, tried to make a trade with Sprout for their AWPer Asger “Farlig” Jensen last October. However, this came to nothing, and the Dane remains under contract with Sprout until now.

This report comes on the heels of Astralis qualifying for the IEM Dallas 2023 playoffs, the first time they have advanced to a defining phase since they did so in July 2022 at IEM Cologne. What is unclear within the team is who will be the sacrificed player.

Altekz and Buzz in the spotlight

Astralis’ lineup, 100% Danish as they have been accustomed to throughout history, has talented and experienced players. However, the players who are on target to come out of the team’s lineup after Staehr’s arrival are Christian “Buzz” Andersen and Alexander “Altekz” Givskov.

Buzz and Altekz are the youngest players in the lineup and the ones with the least experience on the scene. In addition, it is highly unlikely that the organization will decide to dispense with the services of the three legends of the game, Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander, Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz, and Benjamin “blameF” Bremer. On the other hand, it should be noted that both dev1ce and blameF are the best-performing players for Astralis in 2023.

Now, speaking specifically about Staehr, it is worth mentioning that he is one of the most talented young players in Denmark and, together with Rasmus “Zyphon” Nordfoss, is Sprout’s best player in 2023.

Finally, all indications are that the player will arrive at Astralis at the end of 2023. But if the teams agree, the transfer will likely be made in the coming months.
