The Twitch platform gets 50% of the revenue that streamers generate. This may be a very large amount for many people considering that rival platforms such as YouTube and Kick allow streamers to keep a much higher percentage.

However, Twitch executives have commented on their plans to make the platform the best place for all streamers.

For a long time, Twitch’s biggest competition has been YouTube. However, Kick’s new platform has shown great growth. Kick, in particular, has generated a lot of controversy due to the regulation of the platform.

Within Kick, it has been possible to see people consuming narcotics or watching live pornography. In addition, it has generated great controversy due to its association with bookmakers.

However, the streamers on Kick keep 95% of the revenues and the platform only 5%, unlike Twitch which has a 50/50 split, which has generated endless complaints from content creators. But Twitch maintains its stance on the approach to revenue sharing.

Twitch executives Mike Minton and Tom Verrilli have explained the monetization approach they have planned for the platform.

Twitch’s monetization approach

Twitch’s director of monetization, Mike Minton, discussed this revenue split for the purple platform with The Verge.

Mike Minton comments that management knows the platform has been criticized for this recent Twitch modification. Despite the 95/5 ratio we discovered on Kick, Twitch wants to continue using the 50/50 method.

Furthermore, Minton has explained why it will remain that way. He comments that at Twitch, they have discussed a lot about how to proceed with that journey together with the streamers. Innovation plays a key role in that journey.

Minton says they will remain dedicated to improving monetization assets and developing new strategies. Of course, with a commitment to continue to increase revenue for content creators.

The plan for the platform is based on being a desired site for streamers, where they can provide very lucrative entries. This can be achieved by attracting more advertisers rather than modifying the monetization agreements.

They have commented on the advertising incentive plan as one of the main examples. This strategy has far exceeded what management had anticipated. As a result, content creators now recognize the importance of activating advertising for their channels.

On the other hand, they referred to Guess Star, a new feature that allows streamers to invite and introduce other content creators to their channel. Tom Verrilli states that the platform can experience great development with this feature.
