The regional qualifiers for The International 12 are scheduled to take place later this month. In Western Europe, the interval is August 27-31. During these five days, two of the 13 competitors will secure an invitation to the most prestigious Dota 2 event of 2023.

The International 12 already features three Western European teams and all of them finished the regular season in the top 3. Because of this, and also because of what happened at The International in the past 5-6 years, WEU is regarded to be the strongest region in the world.

So these two teams that will qualify for the tournament are not exactly leftovers. They are formidable competitors that could easily finish TI12 in the top 8.

WEU Qualifier participants

Here are the 13 teams that will compete in the Western European Qualifier for The International 2023:

  • Quest Esports
  • OG
  • Entity
  • Level UP
  • Luna Galaxy
  • Nigma Galaxy
  • Team Secret
  • KZ Team (ex-Monaspa)
  • Old G
  • Into The Breach
  • Ancient Tribe
  • Alliance
  • IVY

It will be interesting to see what will happen to Old G. It seems that Sebastien “Ceb” Debs and everyone else who was involved in the team has abandoned the project. We know that Ceb himself started to compete for OG’s main roster again.

At the recent Riyadh Masters 2023, OG finished 13th-14th, which wasn’t ideal. However, this result and the victories obtained by Ceb’s team demonstrated that they’re good enough to compete against the world’s best teams, with varying degrees of success.

OG are still lacking a position 4/5 player and everyone’s wondering whether Johan “N0tail” Sundstein would be willing to make a comeback. With more than 3 weeks until the start of the qualifiers, there’s still plenty of time to prepare.

Favorites

The favorite teams are not hard to pick. They are Quest Esports, Entity, and Team Secret. Three other teams whose chances are decent are Nigma Galaxy, OG, and KZ Team. For the remaining participants, there’s almost no hope whatsoever. The level of competition is simply too high.

With only two spots available, you need to be exceptional to have even a 10% chance.

No doubt, the team that everyone wants to see at The International is Secret. Puppey has played at every edition of the tournament and last year he finished 2nd. It would be amazing for his legacy and the history of Dota 2 to see him one more time in Seattle.
