T1 Announce March as New Dota 2 Head Coach

T1 Esports announced the arrival of 32-year-old Park “March” Tae-won on Monday, with the veteran set to take over as the organization’s new head coach. Having completed the switch to T1, March will also reunite with former MVP Phoenix teammate Pyo “MP” No-a, who is currently a coach for the team.

How T1 Broke the News of March’s Arrival

Announcing the news on their official Twitter page, T1 posted: @DOTA2 Introducing Director Park Tae-won, “March” who will lead the new team. We ask for a lot of support from fans. The legendary South Korean organization will undoubtedly be hoping that the arrival of March will bring them success. March has almost a decade of experience to his name, with T1 needing stabilizing following an extended period of inconsistency.

March is a former Dota pro who had a brief spell as a coach of Fnatic back in 2019. It was during his time playing for TNC Predator where March made a name for himself, winning the organization’s first Dota 2 major at the MDL Chengdu. However, after TNC released its entire roster at the end of September, March has been on the lookout for a fresh start.

Why T1 Have Added March To Their Dota 2 Roster

The popular South Korean personality also coached the short-lived Echo International in the past, as well as Wind and Rain. T1’s bid to become a major force in the Dota 2 scene has been far from easy, with fans having been frustrated by just how long it took for their complete roster to be formed. In fact, it was some four months between the arrival of offlaner Lee “Forey” Sang-don until their full lineup was announced.

Meanwhile, several disappointing results meant that T1 failed to qualify for any Dota Pro Circuit events, before the Covid-19 pandemic put a halt to competitive action. The T1 Dota 2 roster is still a player short, following the departure of Singaporean carry Galvin “Meracle” Kang just two months ago.
