After a hiatus from the competitive CS:GO scene for over a year and a half, Björn “THREAT” Pers, former Head Coach of NiP, is ready to return with the arrival of CS2.
One of the most experienced personalities in the Counter-Strike scene is undoubtedly THREAT. This 35-year-old Swedish former professional CS:GO player has been immersed in CS since CS 1.6. As a result, this tells us that he is a “world-class” member, and, there is no doubt, he can be a great choice to lead a team that wants to be at the top in the competitive scene.
THREAT ready to return to the Counter-Strike scene
Through an official statement on his Twitter account, former NiP Head Coach THREAT announced that he is ready to return to coaching with the release of CS2. However, the 35-year-old experienced Swede also said this would be possible if he had the “right team.”
As a few negotiations with teams have fallen through and with the upcoming release of CS2 I would like to state that I’m currently a free agent and am interested to go all-in given the right team! Retweets appreciated!

THREAT is completely away from the competitive scene and esports in general after stepping down as NiP’s technical director at the end of 2022. However, at the time of his resignation, THREAT said he decided because he wanted to work within the team and thus be able to generate a “more direct impact.”
It’s both exciting and sombering that I can now announce that @NIP and I have decided to go our separate ways. Trying out a new role this past year has been a learnful experience but I sincerely miss working closely with a team, having a more direct impact.

Now, with a lot of experience on his shoulders in many areas in the CS:GO scene, the 35-year-old Swede says he is ready to return with the arrival of CS2.
About THREAT
As mentioned, THREAT is a former player and Head Coach with unmatched competitive experience. His beginnings date back to Counter-Strike 1.6, where he was part of great teams like Eyeballers, Fnatic, and H2k Gaming, among others. Then, the Swede had a break of about 3 years before joining Team Acer to play for three months in the starting lineup.
At this point, THREAT became Team Acer’s Head Coach temporarily. Finally, the Swede joined NiP in 2016 to take on the role of Head Coach of the team for two years.
He then served as Assistant Coach from 2019-20, returned to his Head Coach role in 2020-21, and finally closed out his time at NiP as the organization’s Head Coach through the end of 2022.
THREAT led NiP to win DreamHack Masters Malmö 2016, IEM Oakland 2017, and IEM Fall Europe 2021. However, these have been the organization’s only successes in recent times.
Many teams are making moves heading into the second half of the season and, of course, the impending arrival of CS2. As such, THREAT may be a highly desirable piece for some organizations. In addition, the fact that others like TSM are considering a return to the scene further increases the chances of the Swede getting a new home in the coming days.
