According to reports, Lee “Clozer” Ju-hyeon has departed T1 in order to sign for Liiv SANDBOX. The youngster is set to leave T1 for the first time in his career, with the Korean prodigy having been with the organization since December 2019, when he joined their academy setup. Esports reporter “Kenzi” broke the news, with Clozer’s deal with T1 having been due to expire at the end of 2022. Liiv SANDBOX are understood to have bought out the 18-year-old’s contract, although neither party have said anything on the rumors as of yet.

Having impressed for the T1 Academy team, Clozer was promoted to the main roster, where he played under Faker. Acting as substitute mid laner for the giant org, Clozer was part of the team that formed an unprecedented 10-man roster. In fact, there were nine different roster combinations ahead of the build up to the Worlds earlier this year.

Why Clozer is Departing T1

In total, Clozer featured 21 times in the LCK 2021 Spring Split. However, he was benched during the regular season, with the youngster having not been able to win back his starting position for the remainder of the campaign. As a result, he was forced to miss both the LCK Summer Split and Worlds 2021. It perhaps comes as no surprise that Clozer has seemingly secured a move away from T1.

Clozer’s reported new team Liiv SANDBOX joined the LCK in 2019, when they were known as SANDBOX Gaming. Yoo “FATE” Su-hyeok has been their starting mid-laner for the majority of the org’s history, although it appears that he could well have significant competition for his place.

Why Liiv SANDBOX Will Have Appealed to Clozer

Liiv SANDBOX hired a western coach in the form of Jakob “YamatoCannon” Mebdi last year, becoming only the second team in the LCK to do so. Meanwhile, the org is also well-known for developing the talent of AD carry Jang “Ghost” Yong-jun, who signed for Damwon Kia after his time with SANDBOX.

Clozer’s departure could well be one of many at T1, with Teddy having received offers from both LCS and LCK teams, according to Upcomer. Additional news on T1’s ins and outs is expected shortly, which we will bring you as and when we get it. Liiv SANDBOX will undoubtedly be itching to unveil the high profile signing of Clozer.

With Clozer’s departure looking likely sooner rather than later, the T1 roster will be made up by Kim “Canna” Chang-dong, Moon “Oner” Hyeon-joon, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong, Ryu “Keria” Min-seok, Choi “Zeus” Woo-je, Moon “Cuzz” Woo-chan and Ryu “Hoit” Ho-seong.
