Team Vitality stun FaZe Clan to win BLAST Premier: Fall Final

Team Vitality looked very dangerous even before BLAST Premier: Fall Final started. But they immediately confirmed what we suspected in the first match against Heroic.

What some people feared was that mezii would not be good enough to play at Vitality’s level. After all, this is not a team that simply wants to stay in the top 10. This is a team that wants to win trophies. And to do that, you need to beat formidable opponents like FaZe Clan, G2 Esports, and Cloud9.

In the end, Vitality’s new roster passed their first serious test and won the trophy in a race that featured teams like FaZe, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Natus Vincere, Astralis, and Cloud9.

Vitality’s path to the title forced them to play against four strong competitors: Heroic, Complexity, Cloud9, and FaZe Clan. In every single case, the team’s core players did their job really well. Sometimes, the man who carried them to victory was ZywOo. Other times it was Spinx or flameZ.

For the IGL, apEX, as well as for mezii, having such reliable teammates must feel pretty good. The raw firepower of these three players reminds everyone of the former Natus Vincere roster, which had s1mple, b1t, and electroNic. The current FaZe roster also has this kind of trio.

The four matches

The first of the four matches won by Vitality on their way to the trophy was against Heroic. The Danish team did not put much resistance. The scores were 13 – 6 on Nuke and 13 – 9 on Inferno. Spinx had one of the best performances of 2023 in this match, finishing with a score of 48-20.

The second match, played against Complexity, proved to be a bit more challenging. Vitality lost on Nuke (13 – 16) but won the other two maps with ease: 13 – 2 on Anubis and 13 – 7 on Inferno. This time, ZywOo was the best player on the server.

In the semifinals, Cloud9 gave Vitality a hard time. The scores were 16 – 13 on Mirage, 9 – 13 on Nuke, and 13 – 11 on Inferno. This was quite a battle between two giants and Boombl4 proved to be a strategic genius again. He just didn’t have enough firepower to stop ZywOo, Spinx, and flameZ.

In the Grand Final, the first map was a stomp: 13 – 3 on Vertigo. FaZe Clan played well on Nuke, but ended up losing 13 – 11.
