After four years without receiving a single improvement, Riot Games released the critical change to Aurelion Sol with League of Legends patch 13.3. This long-awaited change to Aurelion Sol radically altered the Champion’s gameplay while maintaining its tradition. Everyone awaited this overhaul because of the character’s mobility and ultimate power.

However, League of Legends players have a lot to say about the Aurelion Sol update, which was made public yesterday. Apparently, players are not as happy as one might expect. Players on the League subreddit have already expressed concern about the possible failure of the Aurelion Sol revamps.

Player dissatisfaction

Many people are unhappy as they feel that the overall play style of this character is the same as the previous one; despite having access to items like the Shattered Queen’s Crown, infinite scaling, and more AP.

Players argue that despite having more AP scaling, a skill kit that allows you to scale endlessly, and the ability to buy things that increase your tank, users still experience the same problems as before.

Aurelion Sol’s rework does not convince players

As the Reddit user points out, Aurelion Sol’s playstyle is still to clear the wave as soon as possible and roam to the top of the map or to the bot lane at all times to attack the enemy; but not everyone thinks so. Some players believe that Champion is over-dimensioned, which means that having him in the team almost always ensures victory; when it comes to fighting, his stats and infinite scaling make him a real torture for opponents.

Despite the divided opinions about Aurelion Sol’s improvements, a group of users considers the update a success. Thanks to the significant improvement in the Champion’s play rate metrics, Aurelion Sol is again present in the Summoner’s Rift. This is something Riot Games has been looking for for some time. So much so that Aurelion Sol increased his pick rate from 0.5% to over 20% and a ban rate of 45.2% in patch 13.3, according to data from the U.GG League analytics website.

Since the patch has only been available for one day, it is still impossible to evaluate the general state of Aurelion Sol. We have to analyze its evolution as the days go by. This way, we can determine if Riot Games got it right with the improvements introduced in the Champion or if they have to keep adjusting it and expect one or more nerfs in the patch.
