On the eve of the start of the DPC SEA 2023 Tour 3: Division I, Team SMG has announced a new roster to try to live up to expectations for the remainder of the season. The team has announced the signing of Natthaphon “Masaros” Ouanphakdee and Jaunuel “Jaunuel” Arcilla to their Dota 2 starting lineup.

These changes can sit well with many teams, as refreshing lineups can go a long way toward positive results. However, some teams tend to have short-term adjustment issues, so we’ll have to wait and see how things play out for Team SMG.

Team SMG announces its new Dota 2 lineup

Through their official Twitter account, Team SMG has announced the signing of Jaunuel and Masaros ahead of the DPC SEA 2023 Tour 3: Division I. In addition, with these signings, it was also announced that Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng, one of the most flexible players in SEA, is returning to his old role in the lineup, mid laner.

There is no doubt that Team SMG hopes that, with the addition of these two new players, the team will perform better to get a ticket to the Bali Major 2023. Remember that participation in this event is paramount for all teams that aspire to score the most DPC points to qualify for TI11.

Now, Team SMG’s lineup is as follows:

  • Lee “CDR” Jia He
  • Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng
  • Natthaphon “Masaros” Ouanphakdee
  • Tue “ah fu” Soon Chuan
  • Jaunuel “Jaunuel” Arcilla

Jaunuel comes to the team from Geek Slate to assume the role of Support in Team SMG. On the other hand, Masaros, who was inactive in the Bleed Esports lineup, will be the new offlane of the team. As we mentioned, this means that MidOne returns to his original position, so the squad now seems to be better conformed.

Team SMG’s new lineup had a trial by fire

This new Team SMG lineup had a litmus test starting the DPC SEA 2023 Tour 3: Division I, as their first match was against Talon Esports. Remember that this team is one of the region’s best, so it will be a great test for this new lineup.

As expected, Talon Esports started this tournament very strong and got a solid 2-0 victory. However, Team SMG was very strong and even took the second match to finish in 68:02 minutes.

Starting today, May 15, and for the next three weeks (June 5), the DPC SEA 2023 Tour 3: Division I will be taking place, and teams will be fighting fiercely for the most DPC Points and, of course, the qualification for the Bali Major.
