Before the start of Western Europe’s Division II of Dota Pro Circuit 2023, a lot of Dota 2 fans were excited but also worried. Old G, Sebastien “Ceb” Debs’ new team, looked terrifying on paper but nobody knew how good they were going to be when faced with serious opponents. Now we know. They are very strong.

Into The Breach has been around for a long time and they even played in the region’s Division I. But Old G crushed them regardless, in two quick games.

Why Old G will likely get promoted at the end of Tour 2

The match against Into The Breach clearly showed how Ceb likes to play Dota. He noticed that his opponents were going for a late-game strategy and he simply countered it with heroes that can take towers less than 10 minutes into the game.

In game 1, he picked Nature’s Prophet, Rubick, and Oracle. To make his draft even harder to kill, he also picked Abaddon and Clockwerk. With this combination of heroes, Old G gained a massive advantage in the laning stage and were 4500 gold ahead at the 10-minute mark. The battle was practically over at that point.

In game 2, Into The Breach tried to make sure that they will have a late game for their Terrorblade by picking Techies, Undying, and Ember Spirit. But Old G replied with even more early-game picks by going with a complete lineup that can fight at the 15-minute mark.

The combination of Zeus, Lycan, Nature’s Prophet, Jakiro, and Snapfire gave them lots of damage from afar, a global presence, and all the pushing power they needed to start taking control of the map soon after the end of the laning stage. There was never a moment when Into The Breach felt strong enough to beat them. And they knew it.

Old G’s strength comes not only from Ceb’s vast experience and confident personality. It also comes from all the other players’ prowess. With the exception of Kartik “Kitrak” Rathi, who is relatively unaccomplished, everyone on the team is a superstar.

In Division II of WEU, this kind of lineup should easily dominate the competition. The biggest rival that Old G will have to face is Team Secret. But Secret are here for a reason. And that reason is not hard to understand: they got crushed in Tour 1 and are now in a very bad position. So Old G should beat them as well.
