Over the years, much debate has been regarding the stock maps in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO). Moreover, if we pay some attention to what little has been published so far regarding the imminent release of CS2, we can say that it will be the same in the new game.

However, two legends of Valve’s shooter, Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas, and Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund, ask the developers to return three legendary maps. We are talking about maps that all of us who are old school are sure to have spent hours enjoying, Militia, Siege, and Assault.

When we read these three map names, we immediately go back to when we played CS 1.6 for hours with our friends. While it is true that these are maps from the Rescue Hostages game mode, there is no doubt that many of the hours of gameplay we have are on these maps.

TaZ asks Valve for the return of Militia, Siege, and Assault

When talking about TaZ, we also have to talk about Filip “NEO” Kubski, the mainstay of CS 1.6 and CS:GO in Poland. However, this pair of players are completely retired from the competitive scene, but they have not lost their love for what has been a very important part of their lives.

In a recent Tweet by TaZ, we see how he asks Valve, through his official account, for Militia, Siege, and Assault to return with the arrival of CS2.

Now, TaZ was not the only one who asked for this, as another of Valve’s shooter legends and one of the icons for many of us who have followed Counter-Strike for more than two decades, GeT_RiGhT, also showed his support for this request. The Swedish legend responded to TaZ’s Tweet with “Amen.”

Militia, Siege, and Assault

This list of maps can be extremely curious, especially for those who never played Counter-Strike 1.6. As mentioned, these are three maps from the Hostage Rescue game mode, which is not played competitively. However, that two legends of the game are calling for the return of these iconic 1.6 maps makes us think that the flame of Counter-Strike is still alive in this pair of players.

With this, we assume that TaZ and GeT_RiGhT are asking for the above three maps to become part of CS2’s competitive mode. Likewise, this is very unlikely to happen, considering each map’s game mode, unless Valve makes a 180° turn regarding the map pool.

On the other hand, it is also worth mentioning that all three maps have been part of the CS:GO map pool in the game’s history but have never been played in competitive mode. Also, these maps are undoubtedly a lot of fun, but we are unlikely to see them competitively because they have wide fields and high elevations favoring the T-side.

All of us who love the game and have been immersed in it since CS 1.6 would be thrilled to see Militia, Siege, and Assault arrive as part of the CS2 map pool, if only for fun. Also, it’s worth noting that, for now, Valve has only shown Dust 2, Mirage, Nuke, and Office, while some leakers posted images of what could be the new Inferno.
