The Spaniard and former Movistar Riders player, Álvaro “SunPayus” García, continues to reap success in his career as a professional in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. After a spectacular season, the player from Murcia, Spain, finished in the Top 25 of the HLTV ranking.

Although the player did not make it into the top 20 players in the world, nor does this award count for much for his professional profile, there is no doubt that SunPayus achieved a milestone for Spanish esports. Furthermore, there is no doubt that the ENCE Esports player is still committed to improving and hopes to be much higher in this ranking in 2023.

About SunPayus

Álvaro “SunPayus” García is a 24-year-old Spanish player who currently plays as an AWPer for the European organization ENCE Esports.

SunPayus started his career as a professional in Counter-Strike Global Offensive in 2018 with Myrtia Wolves Blue. After several years for different national teams in Spain of a lower level, in August 2021, he was signed by Movistar Riders, the most important Spanish team in esports.

After his good performances in the team, especially in the ESL Challenger at DreamHack Valencia 2022, where they took first place, beating Outsiders in the Grand Final, he signed for ENCE Esports to finish the season.

There is no doubt that the impact SunPayus has had on his teams is more than evident. As we know, in CS:GO, working together helps to win games. Still, there is no doubt that Murcia’s player has demonstrated an extraordinary individual level.

In addition, his departure from Movistar Riders hurt the Spanish esports community a lot, but the fans have always been very aware of the performance of this magnificent player.

SumPayus wants to improve his ranking position in 2023

SunPayus has been one of the best ENCE players in their tournaments. The AWPer appears at the top of numerous rankings that speak positively of his extraordinary talent. This increased in the CCT North Europe Series 2, the only tournament he has won with ENCE.

Thanks to his performance in various tournaments, his name has been on the lips of many professionals in the scene. In addition, HLTV has also given a little praise to the Spanish player, as they have placed him in the 25th position of the 2022 world ranking. This is a historic position for a player of Spanish nationality.

Many thought he could even enter the Top 20, but we will have to wait at least one more year. However, SunPayus has shown his confidence and desire to improve his level of play and confesses to being able to enter the Top 20 next season.

However, the players ahead of the Spaniard are no strangers and far from easy to beat. We have names like Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke, Florian “syrsoN” Rische, Casper “cadiaN” Møller, or Fredrik “REZ” Sterner.

Being in such an important and competitive organization as ENCE Esports undoubtedly benefits the Spanish player. But if the organization obtains better results in 2023, we will likely see SunPayus in the Top 20.
