Street Fighter 6 and EA FC 24 will also be played in the inaugural Esports World Cup, according to the Esports World Cup Foundation.

While tournament information is yet to be announced, this is the first fighting game announced for the multi-esport title tournament, which now has at least 12 titles to be played. This may likely be complemented by the newly-released Tekken 8, as the 2023 Gamers8 Cup heavily featured the popular fighting game.

Just last February, Street Fighter had also just concluded its 2023 World Championship, which drew over 180,000 peak viewers according to Esports Charts.

Meanwhile, EA FC 24 will now also join the series as the first football-related esport discipline to be played in the tournament.

“As an addition to our incredible FC Pro competition, today we are announcing that EA SPORTS FC 24 will be at the Esports World Cup, which will include a qualification path through DreamHack events,” EA said in a statement. They confirm that events in DreamHack will serve as competition avenues for the Esports World Cup.

“The top finishing players at DreamHack, along with invited professional players, will qualify for the Esports World Cup this August. More details about the competitions will be available from ESL FACEIT Group soon.” EA stated. “As DreamHack celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, we are proud to have open FC 24 competitions hosted at both DreamHack Dallas in the United States and, where it all started, DreamHack Summer in Sweden. DreamHack has been a fixture of the esports scene for years and we believe it will be the perfect environment for FC 24 competitions where amateur and professional players can compete head to head.”

However, they said that EWC performances will not have any bearing on FC Pro World Championship or any of EA’s FC pro events.

The Esports World Cup is part of Saudi Arabia’s National Gaming and Esports Strategy. “The Esports World Cup is the natural next step in Saudi Arabia’s journey to become the premier global hub for gaming and esports, offering an unmatched esports experience that pushes the boundaries of the industry. The competition will enhance our progress towards realizing the Vision 2030 objectives of diversifying the economy, growing the tourism sector, creating new jobs in various industries, and providing world-class entertainment for citizens, residents, and visitors alike,” said Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Previously, Fortnite, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Starcraft II, Counter-Strike 2,Honor of Kings, PUBG Battlegrounds, PUBG Mobile, Overwatch 2, Dota 2, and other titles have been announced for the 2024 Esports World Cup.
