There are still about two weeks to go until the end of the LEC Spring Split 2023, but some teams that did not write their names in the Group Stage have started to think about what will be the next Summer Split. After being left out of the Group Stage of the spring season, Team Heretics has decided to change their lineup, and the sacrifice is none other than Lee “Ruby” Sol-min.

Team Heretics joins Excel Esports as the first team to make changes after being eliminated in the regular season. In addition, Excel recently confirmed that Andrei “Xerxe” Dragomir might explore his options with another team ahead of the Summer Split.

Team Heretics allows Ruby to explore their options

After really bad results in the Spring Split, Team Heretics let Ruby, their Mid Lane, explore options in other teams for the rest of the 2023 LEC season. This news was confirmed by the player himself on his official Twitter account.

While the player notes that he is still under contract with the organization, he has been allowed to talk to other teams in search of a new home for the 2023 Summer Split. With how experienced and great of a player Ruby is, some organizations are likely in communications with the South Korean player.

Ruby’s uncertain future for the rest of 2023

While it is true that his season has not been as good as he would have hoped, the 24-year-old South Korean player has the experience and quality that other teams would like to add to their Mid Lane. However, this is not to say that Ruby was the main cause of Team Heretics’ debacle in the 2023 Spring Split.

According to gol.gg stats, the player is usually well ahead of his positional opponents 15 minutes into the game. This, of course, is about the difference between gold and experience. However, the player’s win rate is not ideal, so this may work against him when looking for a team.

Right now, Ruby’s future is uncertain. Although he is still under active contract with Team Heretics, the fact that he is looking for a new home means that the organization does not intend to have him for the Summer Split. Instead, the player may leave for a lower-level league, return to the LCK, or dabble in the LPL. It all depends on the options that come his way in the coming days.

On the other hand, Team Heretics needs to get a replacement as soon as possible to start preparing for the next Split. The only way for the team to qualify for the LEC Finals is to win the Summer Split or be among the best, as the points currently accumulated seem insufficient to achieve it.
