January 24 – More tournaments are expected for Call of Duty: Mobile multiplayer teams as CODM Clash is set to host its Southeast Asia (Garena region) leg from January 25-26.

In an interview with Fragster.com, CODM Clash GG founder and rising esports talent Carlo “Cali” Salcedo says, this is a follow-up to their successful hosting of CODM Clash in India, inspired by the Cinderella story of 2023 CODM World Championship runner-up GODLIKE.

GODLIKE won the inaugural CODM Clash tournament, beating 7 other teams.

“We wanted to carry their momentum and bringing in aspiring CODM players on the region to compete as soon as they can,” Salcedo told Fragster.com in a Facebook message. He adds, “we initially wanted to provide tournaments for CODM India this year since they barely had events running back in 2023, so we thought, why not give this region a chance – after all they’re now the #2 best region in the world?”

CODM Clash SE Asia will feature some of the strongest teams in the Garena regions: Freeslot and WDC Xenon from Thailand, ABC Esports from Indonesia, Delulues from the joint Malaysia/Singapore (MYSG) region, and four teams from the Philippines: SKADI, Dovahkiin (DVK) Oblivion, Perseverancia Esports – San Agustin Golden Eagles (PV SAGE) and PV Odynne.

Building off a new competitive tourney from scratch

Salcedo tells Fragster that CODM Clash is fueled by a global team dedicated to give a worldwide competitive feel outside of the major tournaments.

With some of the top Garena teams preparing for ESL Mobile Masters Sao Paulo later this year, Cali says, this would only open up doors for potential new greats in the now-rejuvenated CODM competitive scene.

“These tournament opportunities gives region like Thailand opportunity to compete against MSP and Indonesian teams. Believe it or not, Thailand’s esports scene is at it’s lowest and they don’t get as much esports support compared to other regions. When we exactly found out that was the case, We from CODM Clash GG really wanted to push this event. This international competition we handle will be a breeding ground for growth, experience and success,” says Salcedo, who has been at the forefront of Filipino, Garena, and international CODM tournament broadcasts.

He recounts, during the India leg, they had team managers who gave them access to the Indian tournaments, and they worked hand-in-hand to make the event successful.

Indian team managers KSVK, Nalin and Matrix provided tournament support, while broadcast backends were handled by Filipino talents, such as graphic artist Joella “Juweya” Cabrera and John Lloyd “CLX Production” Colico.

As for sponsorships, Salcedo says, while their current tournament amount is small compared to major orgs – the India leg with US$200 thanks to a sponsor named Umair Mohammed and the Garena/SEA leg with US$100 from his own funds – the prestige and the commitment of having some of the best teams play against each other for friendly competition is more than fulfilling.

“We’re always open for sponsorship, We want to maintain CODM Clash GG long term and aim to enhance the competitive experience of both India and Southeast Asia. Big or small, it is still a huge help in operating our objective,” Salcedo said.
