RobbaN decides to end his CS:GO coaching career

Robert “RobbaN” Dahlstrom is one of the oldest CS:GO professionals. At the age of 38, his experience is hard to match because it’s almost as old as Counter-Strike itself.

For around a decade he played professionally for half a dozen organizations. After that, he switched to coaching and spent most of this part of his career at FaZe Clan. The results he obtained as a player and then as a coach are quite spectacular.

While competing for Ninjas in Pyjamas and then for SK Gaming, he won almost a dozen S-tier tournaments, including:

• NGL-One Season I Finals
• KODE5 2006
• IEM III Global Challenge Los Angeles
• DreamHack Winter 2008
• IEM IV Chengdu
• IEM VI New York

His career became even more spectacular after he switched to coaching. He didn’t accomplish much in the first few years but after 2016, thanks to FaZe Clan’s policy of signing top players, he enjoyed a very successful ride.

RobbaN’s coaching career

The first big trophy was won in 2017, at StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 3, where FaZe Clan defeated Astralis in the Grand Final. At that point, Astralis were still trying to find a few more players that would give them the edge.

They eventually found Emil “Magisk” Reif and became unbeatable for a few seasons. But before that happened, FaZe Clan managed to win a number of important events. The most important of them was ELEAGUE CS:GO Premier 2017.

Other great victories obtained by RobbaN in 2017-2018 include events like ESL One New York 2017, IEM XIII Sydney, and EPICENTER 2018.

It would take the club more than three years after that EPICENTER win to return to the height of CS:GO. But their return was absolutely epic. One of the main reasons why they were able to do it was the signing of Finn “karrigan” Andersen, who is easily one of the best IGLs in the history of the game.

RobbaN did his part, but he was clearly not the main reason why FaZe Clan had the best season in their history in 2022. During that season, the team won four very important tournaments: EPL S15, IEM Katowice, PGL Major Antwerp, and IEM Cologne.

In 2023, they won EPL S17 and completed the Intel Grand Slam, winning its 4^th season. After that, the team continued to be one of the best in the world.

At the age of 38, RobbaN has finally decided to retire. He fully deserves to have some time for himself and will likely be remembered as one of the greatest coaches in CS:GO’s history.
