Writing this feels surreal but unfortunately, it’s true. Alaan “SexyBamboe” Faraj, the 29-year-old Dota 2 player who competed for teams like Evil Geniuses, mousesports, HellRaisers, and Kaipi, has passed away recently. We don’t know how or why, but people close to him have confirmed this fact on Twitter and other media. His brother, in particular, has asked people for images of him, and streamers like Gorgc have expressed their condolences and bid him farewell.

SexyBamboe’s Dota 2 Achievements

SexyBamboe started playing Dota almost since day 1. His career spans more than 10 years and he was well-known in the game’s community, not only as a serious competitor but also as a streamer. Among his greatest achievements, the most important were the following: 1st place at Nexon Sponsorship League Season 3, 1st place at Korean Dota League Tier 1, 3rd place at DreamLeague Season 4, 2nd place at Game Show Global eSports Cup Season 1, 1st place at World Cyber Arena 2017 Europe Finals, and 1st place at Midas Mode 2 Europe.

Despite not being part of the tier 1 Dota 2 for long, SexyBamboe was still a very famous and respected figure. His tragic demise will no doubt remind the gaming community of just how precious and fragile life is.

This is the second tragedy of the year for the world of Dota 2. In August, the iconic Lakad Matatag caster, Paulo “Dunoo” Pangan, died from Covid-19 complications. That was another huge blow to everyone and especially the Filipino scene.

SexyBamboe was Dutch, just like SingSing and Sheever. There aren’t that many people from the Netherlands in Dota 2, so his loss is going to affect the game’s Dutch community quite a bit. We still don’t know what happened to him but in the coming days and weeks, we will likely learn more about this tragic incident.
