The League of Legends community has not had an excellent start to 2023 with Riot Games, the game’s developers. The presentation of the new season, the cinematics, and the changes in the schedules have been many reasons why fans have constantly attacked the developers.

One issue that caused many controversies was the departure of former LCS host James “Dash” Patterson. Riot decided to bring this great presenter back to the LCS with a new role in this 2023 season.

Dash’s new role

For this 2023 season, Dash will be in charge of hosting a new roadshow for the LCS. This will be about following players outside the arena and highlighting their personalities or attitudes beyond what fans can see on match days.

The statement from the LCS was:

“We’re unleashing Dash from the desk to lead his excursion show with LCS players, coaxing unseen personality quirks from our pros as they travel outside the arena. And This or That isn’t going anywhere – we’ll do it live on matchday every week with Kobe and Jatt.”

At the beginning of the LCS offseason, the news that Dash would not be part of the league’s official broadcasts shocked the North American community. Every League of Legends fan knows the incredible trajectory of this presenter, who had almost ten years in the scene.

Then, in early January, Dash made a statement on his Twitter account, stressing that “The new direction of the LCS does not need a constant presenter.” Also, from now on, his role will be lighter than what fans are used to

The presenter also pointed out that:

“The saddening part in all of it is that I wasn’t spoken to before the news.

“After spending a decade, you know, giving 100 percent of myself to something, that I didn’t feel that kind of respect given back towards me in that moment of just having a conversation about ‘hey, we want to make changes, and can we arrive at a decision, that, you know, with you.”

LCS News

The LCS shared a statement with information regarding Dash news and changes to the season schedule. In addition, the Spring and Summer Split Finals will be played in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Newark, New Jersey.
Beyond the planned out-of-stadium content that Dash could produce with players on the streets of Santa Monica, California, where LCS regular season games are played. There is no doubt that opportunities could arise to explore those two cities later in the year.
