Team Liquid announces the head coach who will take charge of its League of Legends division ahead of the LCS Summer Split 2023. Finally, after over three weeks, the organization announced who would fill the Head Coach position after Jang “MaRin” Gyeong-hwan left the team.

Kim “Reignover” Yeu-jin, previously the team’s assistant coach, has been promoted to Head Coach. Team Liquid needs new airs at the head of this great lineup for the Summer Split, as the results obtained in the Spring Split were not as expected.

Team Liquid announce Reignover as Head Coach

Through an announcement on its Twitter account, Team Liquid announced the promotion of Reignover to the position of Head Coach of the team.

As mentioned, Reignover was the team’s assistant coach, so he knows perfectly the players he will have in his hands and the failures they may have had in the first half of the season. On the other hand, it should be noted that this is Reignover’s second foray as head coach of a team since, in 2021, he had the privilege of directing Cloud9.

In the video published by Team Liquid of the announcement, Reignover recognizes that they had many problems in the Spring Split and that for the summer season if they will recognize the mistakes they make. In addition, he assures that he will try to get all players to give their best to give good results and, most importantly, that each lineup member can exploit their full potential.

Team Liquid’s poor performance in the Spring Split

Team Liquid has not started 2023 the way they would have dreamed. While the team has a solid lineup and MaRin was undoubtedly a very experienced coach, they could not have a perfect sync in Summoner’s Rift. As a result, Liquid finished in eighth place on the LCS leaderboard with a record of 8 wins and ten losses.

We may think this record is not bad, as many teams qualify for the playoffs with similar records. However, it all came crashing down for Team Liquid in the middle of Split when they fell into a losing streak, losing four out of five games.

On the other hand, the official statement from Team Liquid states that they will not be making any changes to their starting lineup. This could be good news, especially for Reignover, who will not have to work hard to form a good team play.

Finally, taking over as Team Liquid’s assistant coach for the Summer Split 2023 will be Kang “Dodo” Jun-hook. Dodo was the General Manager of Team Liquid’s LoL division and returned to coaching after over two years of absence.
