The funny response of ropz after being ‘robbed’ at an award ceremony

Estonian CS:GO star ropz did not win the highlight of the year award for his Inferno play during the IEM Katowice finals.

On January 14, one of the most moving Counter-Strike: Global Offensive CS:GO events took place at the HLTV Awards Show. At the ceremony held in person in Stockholm, Sweden, awards were given to the best players and teams of 2022.

HLTV’s Player of the Year

Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev made history by becoming the first professional to win the World’s Best Player award three times. However, for various reasons, voting never leaves the whole community happy. In this case, one of the dissatisfied people is Robin “ropz” Kool from FaZe Clan.

On the other hand, HLTV has proclaimed ropz the eighth-best player in the world, which means it is the Estonian’s best result. He’s been appearing in the list of the best 20 players in the world since 2018, but his best result was achieved in 2020 when he took the seventh position.

The debate over the award

However, the debate is not about his position on the list but the fact that he did not take the award for the best highlight of the year. Specifically, we are talking about his performance during the final of the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) in Katowice.

The FaZe player did not win the award with the play that forced overtime on the Inferno in the Grand Final. Instead, the award went to Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov, G2 Esports player and rookie of the year. He got this award with his 1v4 clutch against MIBR in the BLAST Premier Spring Groups.

Without detracting from the quality of the AWPer’s play, many fans wondered how an online highlight could beat one made in a grand final, where the teams met in front of a stadium and one of the most critical matches possible.

However, ropz showed elegance outside of the servers with an ironic response: alluding to the ‘robbery’ with a song by Juice WRLD. Although ropz took it with a lot of humor not receiving the award, his fellow FaZe Clan members did not laugh so much at the HLTV awards.

That was the case with Helvijs “broky” Saukants, FaZe’s AWPer, who took home the award for the sixth-best player in the world. Broky showed disbelief at not seeing his teammate receive the highlight of the year award on his Twitter account. Broky, on the other hand, was harsh on the fact that Robert “RobbaN” Dahlström did not receive the coach of the year award. Instead, this award went to Andrii “B1ad3” Horodenskyi, coach of Natus Vincere.
