PGL Major Copenhagen Playoffs Predictions: Team Vitality vs. Cloud9

The Copenhagen Major ends this Sunday and the playoffs stage will start on Thursday with two epic matches. In one of them, Team Vitality will face Cloud9 for a chance to advance to the semifinals.

Four months ago, everyone would have agreed that Vitality could not lose this match because their roster was simply too strong. The French team won three important trophies in the last part of the 2023 season and five overall, including the Paris Major.

In addition to that, they have ZywOo, who was the best player of 2023 and easily one of the best Counter-Strike players in the history of the game. If he’s in good shape, Vitality could easily advance to the semifinals and even to the Grand Final of the Copenhagen Major.

Cloud9’s players know what it means to win a CS Major because they’ve already done it with Natus Vincere. Three of them were part of the 2021 Na’Vi roster who accomplished this great result. The competition took place in Stockholm and was organized by PGL.

For Boombl4, Perfecto, and electroNic, winning against Vitality wouldn’t be something new. These players are highly experienced and had the opportunity to compete alongside s1mple for several years. This makes them some of the most knowledgeable competitors in CS2.

Boombl4 was the IGL of the Na’Vi roster that won the Major, so he certainly doesn’t lack the skills and ambition to do it again. Cloud9, as an organization, won ELEAGUE Major Boston 2018. So the management team knows that it’s possible.

If everyone believes and the players have the right qualities, which they do, C9 could, at the very least, advance to the semifinals.

Vitality used to be the number-one team in Counter-Strike. This happened just a year ago. Since then, the team’ coach has changed, as well as two of the players. The former Astralis members are all gone but they did not leave without helping Vitality become stronger.

The new roster has two French players who have been part of Vitality since 2018. One of them, apEX, is the IGL. The other, ZywOo, is either the best or the second-best CS player of all time. Around this strong core, a complete roster was built. One of the newer players, Spinx, is certainly in the top 10 at the individual level and finished 2023 in 5^th place.

Needless to say, this match will be very important for both teams and either of them could win. It all depends on form and confidence.
