With sales of 10 million copies worldwide each, Bandai Namco’s Dragon Ball FighterZ and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 established themselves as two of the most successful fighting games.

According to Bandai Namco’s most recent tweet, ten million units of Dragon Ball FighterZ and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 have been shipped and sold digitally worldwide. To honor these accomplishments, Xenoverse will run fresh currency and experience campaigns, and FighterZ will provide a new quest that rewards players more each time they complete it.

According to reports, the two games each sold more than eight million copies till November 2021 and added two more in the ensuing 18 months, demonstrating that they have both consistently enjoyed strong sales since their debut.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, which was first released in 2016, is still among the most popular games in the genre thanks to the continuous balancing updates made by the game’s developers QLOC and Dimps. Gamers can connect with in-game individuals from all around the world as they progress through the series’ plot and engage in various battles. It’s particularly impressive that the more competitively oriented FighterZ has outperformed the more crafted Xenoverse 2, which even had an advantage of nearly a year over the 3v3 fighter.

Bandai Namco’s hits take over the sale records

While FighterZ is a notable game in the competitive fighting genre, it also has a wide appeal among general fans that have helped it sell many more copies than most of the previous Arc System Works titles.  For fans of the Dragon Ball series, Dragon Ball FighterZ is a classic game thanks to its well-known cast of characters and gameplay aspects. Although it was first released in 1984, Dragon Ball is still one of the most well-known anime series of all time, therefore it is not unexpected that these titles are doing so well.

The accomplishment is still noteworthy and raises the question of what more Bandai Namco, the publisher of Dragon Ball, has in the pipeline. This year, Bandai Namco will finally incorporate rollback netcode in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S releases of FighterZ.

Despite selling over 10 million copies each, FighterZ and Xenoverse 2 are still not the best-selling fighting games from the previous generation; rather, they are among the top five. Among the best-selling video games are Tekken 7, which distributed 10 million copies before the end of last year, Mortal Kombat 11, which distributed over 15 million copies, Mortal Kombat X, which distributed over 12 million copies, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which has distributed 31 million copies.
