PGL Major Copenhagen will feature the world’s best CS2 teams. In total, 24 of them will compete in the tournament and the winner will receive $500.000. To get to the event, the participants need to survive the regional qualifiers.

In Europe, two independent tournaments are scheduled to take place with the objective of determining the strongest teams. At least eight of them will come from European RMR B, which takes place between February 19 – 22 and features 16 teams. The format they will compete in is the usual Swiss System.

European RMR B participants

European RMR B will feature these 16 teams:

  • Team Vitality
  • MOUZ
  • Team Spirit
  • Monte
  • Cloud9
  • Preasy Esport
  • Apeks
  • Astralis
  • GamerLegion
  • ECSTATIC
  • Guild Eagles
  • ENCE
  • Pera Esports
  • OG
  • Nexus Gaming
  • Heroic

Some of these participants are far from being among the best in Europe, but they qualified nonetheless by defeating strong opponents who stumbled. For instance, Nexus Gaming managed to beat BIG in their final Closed Qualifier match, eliminating them from the race. To put this victory in perspective, BIG are ranked 18th globally while Nexus are ranked 52nd.

In the case of Preasy, they have an ambitious roster and managed to sign players like refrezh and dupreeh in 2023, so it’s no wonder that they made it this far. However, they nearly failed to qualify for the RMRs, so they could easily fail to qualify for the Copenhagen Major.

With only eight tickets available and 16 teams in the race, it will not be easy for them to earn their qualification. They could also finish 9th – 11th and then compete in the Decider Brackets. But of the six teams who will play in that last-chance qualifier, only one will be at the Major.

Favorite teams

Here are the teams that have the highest chances of finishing European RMR B in the top eight and qualify for PGL Copenhagen Major directly:

  • Team Vitality
  • MOUZ
  • Cloud9
  • Astralis
  • Team Spirit
  • Monte
  • Apeks
  • ENCE

Some of these eight teams could easily fail to qualify because their skill level is not that much higher than that of the underdogs. In particular, Apeks and ENCE are in question. If something goes wrong or they end up facing too many strong opponents, OG, Heroic, GamerLegion, or Preasy could steal their spot at the Major.

For the top six teams on the list, qualification should be quite easy to achieve. Vitality, in particular, are the Paris Major champions and the strongest team in the world at the moment.
