In Overwatch 2, Teabagging has banned in the Calling All Heroes tournament; consequently, they face a backlash after the ban.

Tbag was the ultimate way to attack an opponent, but it has become quite controversial in recent years, especially in the game’s professional competitions.

Since then, crouching over a dead enemy has gained some notoriety, and many people disapprove of it. This is due to its crudeness and blatantly violating of any form of respect for opponents.

Even given the lack of permission, it has come to be considered sexual assault. So the developers of Overwatch 2 have decided to ban Teabagging in the event where all genders participate formally.

Tbag is banned

The Calling All Heroes competition was designed to provide safe environments for all genders excluded in esports, such as:

  • Non-binary players
  • Trans women
  • Women

The event seeks to provide an opportunity to showcase their skills and level the playing field in a culture where men have been more dominant.

However, Blizzard Entertainment claims that Teabagging violates the code of conduct, so they have decided to ban it. So that move will not be seen at Calling All Heroes.

This event is an offshoot of the Overwatch League circuit, which is approved and managed by the game developers in conjunction with Raidiant.

Blizzard Entertainment released the ban news at a time when teams are getting ready to participate in Major 1. At the event, all competitors will fight to grab a share of the prize pool, which is $10,000.

Overwatch 2 community reacts to Tbag ban

Blizzard’s Tbag ban would not be the first time the move has been banned. Riot Games had previously asked all players who participated in the VALORANT Game Changers, a tournament dedicated to marginalized genders, not to perform this provocative act in front of their opponents.

Considering marginalized genders’ struggle to be present in esports, many people would consider this an acceptable measure.

However, comments on this ban could be seen, and not everyone agrees.

Teabagging is banned from the Calling All Heroes tournament for marginalized genders. Also, OWL players are not allowed to participate.

Among the comments that can be read is one that expresses that he does not agree very much with this rule; he also states that in traditional esports, this kind of thing always happens, but they penalize people who make that kind of mockery.

On the other hand, another person commented that this absolutely intolerable toxicity policy generates another type of problem: a Discord full of racist messages.

Another person commented that these measures only show that the excluded genders treat the competition as snowflakes.

However, not all comments were against it; some favor this measure.

One person commented that the zero-tolerance measure was correct. However, at the same time, another person argues that such moves only serve to entertain players through mind games and that there is nothing wrong with banning it.
