The title “King of VCT Pacific” is now in Korean hands as Gen. G defeats Paper Rex, 3-1, in the Grand Finals of VCT Pacific Kickoff 2024 in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, South Korea.

Sunday’s best-of-five saw the team of Kim “Meteor” Tae-o, Kim “t3xture” Na-ra, Kim “Lakia” Jong-min, Byeon “Munchkin” Sang-beom, and Kim “Karon” Won-tae convincingly win over last year’s Kings of VCT Pacific.

Not to be outdone, Paper Rex fielded Jason “f0rsakeN” Susanto, Ahmad Khalish Rusyaidee “d4v41” bin Nordin, Alessandro “mindfreak” Leonheart, Ilya “something” Petrov and Cahya “Monyet” Nugraha.

The Tiger Nation cruise-controlled the first map – Ascent – in dominating fashion, reading through the different defensive and offensive moves of Paper Rex. Gen.G won the round handily, 13-5.

By the second round at Split, Paper Rex retaliated with a 6-0 run of its own before Gen.G was able to fight back. However, PRX quickly regained composure by making the Tiger Nation read their overall game.

By map three at Lotus, the pace of the game slowed as Paper Rex forced Gen. G to try and close the game out, but Gen.G would not stop just yet and tried to go for back-and-forth rounds. At one point, two ties tried to set the round into ties – but Gen.G won the round by stopping Paper Rex’s late game attempt to try and force an overtime.

Come Bind – which is the fourth map, a 4-0 run from Gen.G opened up the finals on PRX’s pick. However, Gen.G cruise-controlled the round despite pushbacks from PRX, and eventually closed the win with a defuse and a dominating 13-4 performance.

Gen.G gets the first 3 championship points that will give them a headstart to their Valorant Champions Seoul journey. Both them and PRX will represent the APAC region in the first-ever Masters event of the year for Valorant.

Valorant Masters Madrid will happen from March 14-24, 2024.
