OGA Dota PIT Invitational is entering its last two competitive days today and we’re likely to see a repeat of what happened at ESL One Fall 2021. Two of the 3 remaining teams are the Grand Finalists of that tournament and among the favorites that were predicted to win this one.

OGA Dota PIT Invitational Lower Bracket Final Preview

The Lower Bracket Final of OGA Dota PIT Invitational is a battle between Western Europe’s TI Qualifier finalist and Eastern Europe’s TI Qualifier winner. Both squads are very strong, but it’s hard not to regard Tundra as the favorite. After all, Fata’s crew won the title at ESL One Fall 2021 and that was just a few weeks ago. The only weakness they seem to have is versatility. For some reason, they keep picking the same carry heroes and if you do it for long enough, your opponents have ample time to prepare a perfect counter-strategy.

This is exactly what happened in the Upper Bracket Final. Tundra picked Sven in game 1 and Clinkz in game 2. PSG.LGD’s response was swift: Bloodseeker + Lycan + Monkey King in game 1, and Morphling + Beastmaster in game 2. The two games lasted just 50 minutes in total!

One thing that’s scary about Spirit is their ability to ignore the meta and just do whatever they want. Sometimes, this confuses their opponents and leaves them in the dark with regard to timings. The CIS crew did this a few times in its last 3 Lower Bracket matches and got great results. They won against Undying (2 – 1), Fnatic (2 – 0), and T1 (2 – 0). In particular, this last victory against a team that nearly defeated PSG.LGD should worry Fata. But he will probably find a way to win.

Going into the Lower Bracket Final of OGA Dota PIT Invitational, Tundra is the favorite (60% – 40%) and the end result will most likely be 2 – 1.

Grand Final Predictions

PSG.LGD lost the Grand Final of ESL One Fall 2021 against Tundra, but the result is likely to be completely different this time. We’ve already seen what the Chinese squad can do in the Upper Bracket Final. Furthermore, Ame’s team lost the title at ESL One Fall because of a risky decision made by one of his support players, who thought it would be a good idea for him to play Storm Spirit mid in game 5 of the Grand Final.

No doubt, PSG.LGD will be much more conservative this time because it’s their final match until The International 10. Anyone in their position would want to go home feeling good about themselves and motivated to train hard for the biggest tournament in the history of Dota 2. A victory is what PSG.LGD is after and it’s going to be extremely hard for either Tundra or Spirit to steal it away from them.
