OG’s performance in 2023 has been abysmal. The team went from finishing 3rd – 4th at BLAST Premier World Final 2022 to getting relatively poor results at every 2023 tournament, from IEM Katowice (9th – 12th) to BLAST.tv Paris Major (20th – 22nd).

After a long string of disappointments, OG decided to start changing the roster. Degster left in June. FASHR left just days ago. Their replacements have not been able to do much better. Both regali and k1to are currently struggling with the rest of the team to find a successful formula.

But against the likes of FaZe Clan and G2 Esports, there is very little hope that OG could win a best-of-three in their current condition.

FASHR’s replacement

At the moment, there are numerous excellent players who are looking to join a strong team. But it doesn’t have to have options if you’re not good enough to attract any interest. There’s almost a zero chance that a player like sh1ro or s1mple would be interested in joining OG. Players of that caliber only want to play with the best of the best, and OG’s roster is not even in the top 30!

It feels like this organization has fallen off a cliff in Counter-Strike, and may need many months to return to the top.

One of the aspects that players pay attention to when joining a new team is the events they will be able to compete in over the next 6-12 months. Everyone knows that in esports, 12 months is the duration of many contracts if things don’t work out as expected, so there isn’t much sense to plan 2-3 years in advance.

If a team cannot compete in great events almost immediately, you’re taking a huge risk and might end up becoming the next coldzera, who was the best in the world and then gradually disappeared from the A list of every organization.

Counter-Strike is a game in which players need to constantly prove themselves. Just like the global team rankings, global player rankings don’t stay relevant for long. When a player wants to compete at the highest level after a long absence or a 12-month contract full of failures, there’s always a doubt that he will be good enough to win, even if he used to be a Major champion.

That’s why OG’s ability to attract strong players at the moment is not very good.
