The LCS Summer Split 2023 has started, and after two weeks of uncertainty regarding the start of the tournament, we can now enjoy our favorite teams in the NA region.

While teams have had a little more time to prepare for the start of the season, some have had problems with the arrival of their imported players. 100 Thieves, one of the most popular teams in the LCS, is one of them and will not be able to count on their starting mid-laner in the first week of the Split. As a result, their assistant coach, Erlend “Nukeduck” Våtevik, Holm, will have to play the first games instead of Lim “Quid” Hyeon-Seung.

100T announces that Nukeduck will play for Quid while he is in the USA

The expectations that fans and 100T itself had regarding the performance of its new lineup for the LCS Summer Split 2023 will have to wait. The organization announced through a statement on its Twitter account that Nukeduck, the team’s current assistant coach, will play the first week of the tournament for Quid. This is because, due to visa problems, the 19-year-old Korean promise could not arrive in the country.

This announcement came just a few hours before the LCS Summer Split’s start, so fans may be a bit nervous about the team’s performance. However, this is not the first time this has happened in the NA region, as we all know how high the import rate of Asian players (Koreans mostly) is in the teams.

On the other hand, this could be a very strong blow for 100T, who want to perform well this summer, since they did not meet the expectations in the Spring Split. All this despite having two stars like Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg and Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng in their lineup.

100T and its irregular 2023 season

While it is true that the team achieved a 10-8 record in the 2023 Spring Split, there is no doubt that this is not the result expected by the fans and the 100T players. Moreover, the situation got worse in the playoffs, as they failed to win a single series, as, FlyQuest crushed them in the first round. While in the Lower Bracket, Golden Guardians also applied the same dose.

After these results and a surprising announcement, LCS star Bjergsen announced his imminent retirement from the League of Legends competitive scene. As a result, the team was left with a huge void in the starting lineup.

Quid, the former Gen.G Academy mid-laner in the LCK, would solve the team’s lineup problem with Bjergsen’s retirement. This player is an impressive talent and has gained the necessary experience in the LCK development league. Then, the return of Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho was announced, which meant an increase in the team’s expectations.

Great start of the Split for 100T

While the start of the season seemed to be a gray cloud for 100T after the news broke that Quid would not be around, the team performed great in the first game of the LCS Summer Split 2023.

100T faced FlyQuest, a team that surprised many at the Spring Split and fell short of qualifying for MSI 2023. In this match, 100T managed to crush FQ in a really impressive way, as the team finished with 17 kills and 0 Deaths, meaning FlyQuest couldn’t get a single kill in the match.

It was an excellent start to Split for 100T; there is no doubt about that. However, in the coming hours, we will have to wait for the team’s performance in its next presentation against Team Liquid.
