Different information continues in this offseason of the VALORANT Champions Tour 2023, and, this time, again, we go to the Americas region, where the organization officially confirmed an open secret.
We are talking about the North American organization NRG, which officially announced the departure of Sam “s0m” Oh from its VALORANT lineup for the 2024 season. This news is not surprising, neither more nor less, as the player himself was in charge of giving it several days ago in one of his broadcasts. However, it was not until yesterday, September 13, 2023, that the organization confirmed it.
This move is part of the absolute restructuring that NRG will make in its VALORANT lineup for next season. So, we will keep an eye on the following team publications on its social networks.
NRG officially announce the departure of s0m
As mentioned, what was an open secret is now a reality, as NRG officially announced the departure of s0m from its VALORANT lineup.
Today we say farewell to @s0mcs
Since joining us three years ago, Sam was everything you could ask for as a streamer, a teammate, and a friend. Thank you for being with us on this journey, and we wish you all the best for the future.

This news may be hard for the org, the player, and the team’s fans, as s0m was the oldest member of NRG’s VALORANT squad. The 21-year-old American was part of NRG since the launch of VALORANT, that is, since 2020, after jumping from CS:GO, where he played for Gen.G.
In one of his recent streams, the American talent said that he wants to take a break from the VALORANT competitive scene just like his teammate Pujan “FNS” Mehta. However, this is nothing more than concentrating on the new phase of his life, the world of content creation.
s0m confirms him and FNS are no longer on NRG’s starting Valorant roster, they will be full time streaming until an opportunity comes up pic.twitter. com/usRQKBV95n

As mentioned, s0m was part of only one team in the VALORANT competitive scene, NRG, where he was the team’s main Controller in his excellent run in this 2023 season. Likewise, it is worth noting that the team did not have an ideal performance, as they did not manage to lift even one championship trophy. However, NRG was always there fighting and even played the VALORANT Champions 2023.
S0m and his new career as a content creator
As mentioned, s0m revealed several days ago that he was no longer in NRG’s lineup and that, from now on, he would start his new stage as a content creator.
We all know that many esports professionals are taking this big leap in recent times, as in this facet, players can plan much better and, above all, earn more money. As a result, we see a huge wave of talent deciding to retire at a young age to go into streams.
In NRG’s farewell announcement, s0m mentioned that he was sure this would happen and that, in this offseason of VCT 2023, he would dedicate himself entirely to content creation. This may mean the player will not look for another team to represent in the upcoming VCT season.
However, this does not mean that s0m closes the doors to his return to the highest competitive level, as the player assured that things can change as long as he gets an “opportunity” that he cannot refuse.
