Rumors in the Counter-Strike 2 competitive scene continue to swirl around the Saudi esports organization, Team Falcons. This time, everything indicates that Nikola “NiKo” Kovač would be very close to closing his signing with the team.

This is nothing but another surprising news, as we all know that NiKo seems to be completely fine in G2 Esports. However, the team has not been able to maintain good results lately, so he might be considering a change of scenery.

On the other hand, there is no doubt that this could be the work of Danny “zonic” Sørensen, former coach of Team Vitality, who recently signed as the new Head Coach of Falcons. Zonic stated that he was coming to the organization to build the best CS2 team in the world.

Reports indicate that NiKo could sign with Team Falcons

According to a report by esports journalist neLendirekt on his official Twitter account, NiKo would be very close to closing his signing with the Saudi organization.

According to neLendirekt, the signing of NiKo with Team Falcons “is a done deal,” so it would only be a matter of time before we see the official announcement. However, G2 Esports has yet to agree to buy out the contract of one of its mainstays over the past few years.

On the other hand, neLendirekt also mentioned that Team Falcons would pay a millionaire sum of money to G2 Esports for NiKo. As a result, this move would be one of the most important (financially speaking) in esports history.

NiKo would leave G2 Esports

It’s no secret that G2 Esports is not at its best right now, as after winning IEM Katowice 2023 in February, they returned to winning ways in August by winning IEM Cologne 2023. As a result, the team had several months with a negative streak, which, no doubt, may have helped NiKo to start thinking about leaving the team.

On the other hand, NiKo would be reunited with Zonic in Team Falcons, and undoubtedly, we would be facing a squad with a lot of winning blood. Remember that zonic won everything with Astralis and, more recently, the Paris Major with Team Vitality. On the other hand, we all know NiKo’s extraordinary track record in the Counter-Strike scene.

Other possible Team Falcons signings

In addition to NiKo and zonic, strong rumors place Emil “Magisk” Reif, also from Team Vitality, as another of the team’s signings for next season. This move was reported by HLTV several days ago. However, nothing has yet been confirmed by any of the parties involved.

There is no doubt that NiKo is part of a select group of players who are considered the most important in the game’s history. However, in the case of the Bosnian, we can say that he is the only one who has not won a Major in his career, so he will want to sign up for an ambitious project like Team Falcons to achieve it in CS2.
